Hello,

I have a ''98 Accord V6 with VTEC and I want to take some steps to increase performance AND gas mileage at the same time.  I was wondering if anybody can help me with some suggestions for what I want to get done:

1)  Install new intake system.  What''s the best brand out there for my car?  I was looking at AEM and Ingen.

2)  Install new exhaust system.  Again, any suggestions on the best type to increase performance and mpg?

3)  Get the car tuned on a dyno.  How much does this normally cost?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

i would suggest doing your intake system first...AEM and Injen are both great brands...you can do the Cold Air Intake(CAI) or Short Ram Intake(SRI) either way would be a great start for improving performance and mpg (IF you dont abuse the new power you gain - IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE DRIVER) at the same time..

there are lots of great brands also for exhausts..skunk2, DC Sports, greddy, magnaflow, borla...these are some of the great companies that make great products... it will all depend on what you want for your car..but yeah..i would suggest getting a cat-back exhaust system from one of these brands...it would be most probably expensive tho...

You can''t have more power AND more MPG .... it just doesn''t work that way.  More power = more fuel burnt, period.  If you want the car dyno tuned, you will need a means of doing so ..... so you should buy my V-AFC2 from when I had an accord.  I had it tuned for I/H/E on a J30A1 2000 Accord V6, so the tuning should be about right for your car .... not perfect, but very close.  My engine mods when tuned were:  Injen CAI, OBX headers, Apexi WS2 exhaust, Denso Iridium plugs, OEM coil-on-plug (you have wires).

My accord got about 18.5 mpg and ran a 7.0 second 0-60.

The fujita short ram air intake is awesome and sounds amazing.

Magnaflow makes a nice cat-back if you are looking for a really clean sounding exhaust that isn''t too loud.
