if it never had or you dont think it had full syntheic before, then there is no real gain of putting it in now.. i suggest a nice syntheic blend.  castrol gtx high milage 5/30 is great.. doesnt thin out like most do.. since your not running high heat you should be fine.. you dont need royal purple full syntheic especially if its a '94 with 170k miles on it..

I second castrol gtx high mileage.  I just switched and it seems to be working great.

There are several that stand out:  Motorcraft (blend), Havoline, and Chevron come to mind. Today there are no really bad oils so you can safely stock up on whatever brand is on sale at the time. Stick with what you've been using or try something new if you choose. I agree that you should pass on the full synthetic.

I could be wrong but I don't believe that the GTX Hi-Mileage is a synthetic blend. It is not stated as such on the Castrol Site. I used Castrol GTX
for many years with nary a problem.

i completely agree.  i use the walmart brand (supposedly made by penzoil) in my 95 accord & have never had an oil-related problem.  it's ~1/2 the price of the brand stuff.
