Hello All, I have a question concerning a 2001 SE 4door 2.3 vTec 5spd 174,000 km''s It drinks oil at rate of 1 liter per tank of fuel, when driving the car you can see visible whitish grey smoke from the back end (no leaks what so ever at the engine). I have had a compression test done and that came back with 175+- numbers across all cylinders and they said the head gasket was fine as well. The more information I gather points to the rings? If I have to replace the bottom end, am I better off going to another engine type for this car (what will fit without rebuilding the entire car?). I have read a lot of other posts about similar (but not as much) oil consumption and was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions about the path I should take. The car it''s self is in great shape so investing a few dollars seems worth the effort. Regards, David

Check you PCV. If you have an even compression test, your rings are fine.

yeah the compression test would tell you if the rings were bad, I would check the PCV, although that is a ton of oil for just a PCV, i would think th likely culprit would be the valve seals. and welcome, Honda Accord Forum Oil Burner Club Member #2
