Someone has probably already asked this question, but I haven't found it yet.
Anyone have a good source for a low boost turbo kit for an '03 Accord 4cyl.? It's a great commute car with navi, but i'd like some extra smash when I need it.

A few people on here have recently added turbo's to their cars via building thier own kits for about $1500.00.... This seems to be the best way to go for low/adjustable boost installations and their is a TON of knowledgeable people on here that will help... read some of the turbo help listings for info and what to buy

Yeah, like sir nastry said, check out the turbo help thread. You'll have to dig through it a bit, but you'll find a list of my turbo kit and you could probably piece yours together for around the same cost. Just turbo'd my 96 accord. Plenty of smash, trust me. It's also my daily driver and has been very reliable so far.

yep completely agree with the previous two postings. but...im curious though....do you just want some extra smash when you need it? or do you want some extra smash all the time...if its the latter then you want turbo, if its the first one, then a small dry shot of nitrous will do the trick.

Thanks for all the great input. $1500 sounds very reasonable for a turbo kit. I have a good friend that built a kit for his Civic, so I think we could do the work just fine. I would rather have a turbo than nitrous, as I can adjust the amount of smash just by keeping my foot out of it.

I don't mean to hijack but this brings me to a question on passin' the gas. Let's say a 50 shot dry kit. I've never driven a car with nitrous and I'm curious how tough it is on a stock well maintained 2.4l of 2004 persuasion. For bang for the buck I'm strongly considering this but I'm leary of tearing things up. Does one need to relearn how to drive with a 50 shot? I can see the rev limiter bumping in 1st and 2nd without even trying, hell I do it now if I'm not careful. That probably wouldn't be the best thing when the engine is gassed would it? I do realize that it is set up to activate only @ 100% throttle but in 1st gear it would only take a second or two to hit 6500 RPM.
Could that mean don't activate in 1st, be careful in 2nd, and let'er rip in 3rd and up? As you can all see I'm clueless here, throw me a bone on do's and dont's.
Please no speculation, I'm asking those that have had it in the past or currently.

50 shot dry, you have to keep in mind, yes its a spray that shoots in, BUT the thing is it ultimately requires the air from the intake to force it through. At lower speeds that force just isnt there. Can you pop the bottle in first? yes, you could just get the boost that the no2 provides or it could ignite right before or as it enters the combustion chamber. If your lucky, like my friend was it just destroyed his intake valves in one chamber. But dry shots are viewed as evil because it can burn up your head a lot easier then a wet shot. But i believe most all wet kits are direct port and thats what you want with that anyways.
So, at low speeds you are taking a risk by having the no2 going through. But i think some of your shot is wasted through every exhaust to intake stroke because hondas have overlap on those lobes. If that makes things riskier I dont know.... but i do know you dont want an extremely hot spark if your running no2.

a 50 will be fine as a dry. i dont like nos though, i want to make that clear it will tear up your motor. after a few shots you wont have any trouble firing it in first or second. on fast cars i tell them not to shoot it until second just because of tire spin, but you shouldnt have any trouble with that. i wouldnt do no2 but if you do i would suggest a 35 shot instead of the 50

Be a little more specific on this one, Running no2 will fuse everything together. Its basically like dropping napalm in your engine. Its an extremely high temp burst that happens. And you should learn to redrive in consideration of it because of the damage that can be caused if something goes wrong.
