I am picking up my new 2008 Accord EX-L saturday.  4 cyl, stick.  Is there anything I need to know that the dealer won't share with me?
Best engine break-in method?  best brake system break-in method? First oil change mileage?  etc.

Thanks in advance

I just recently picked up my EX-L but its a 6 cyl. w. navi.  I think you want to wait until the car tells you to change the oil as I read somewhere that Honda puts a special oil in for the break in period.  I am not sure if this is true or not so others please chime in if I am wrong.  As far as breaking it in I read in the manual to keep the rpms down and no sudden starts for the first 600 miles.  I am loving my new Accord, congrats on your purchase.

id follow LouP's advice.  i asked the Service Manager at my dealer about an initial oil change after the break in period and he also advised against it.  he said they pre-run the motors before they are put in the car and that the first oil change isn't needed for 5k miles (i believe...   im at 3500 and my "oil life" meter says 70%).  the car will tell you what maintenance and services are needed (pretty cool actually).  there's a code that pops up where the odometer is and you just reference that code when making an appt.  you can also reference the code against the owner's manual to see exactly what the car is saying.

obvious don't do full throttle accelerations or high speed/rpm driving the first 600 mi.  i'd also do as many downshift-decelerations as possible, such as putting the car into 2nd from 3rd when slowing.  brakes aren't as sensitive but a good rule of thumb is to not slam on the brakes until you've done a couple slow moving, lightly braking stops, to heat up the rotors.

im also loving my car as well, enjoy!

Also an owner of an 08 4cyl and I agree to go with what the "oil life" meter says.  I also didn't do any sudden starts or rev above 5000 rpm's until after 600 miles.  I did the same thing with the S 6 years ago and I burn NO oil unlike other S'.
