hi all, i''m planning on install a HID kits on my car, it''s 6000k 55watt, for what i know is my originial lights is 35watt, so i''m kind of worry if the car can handle that 20watt extra voltages, is it okay to put it in? if possible is there any side effect in the long way? Please help a newbie, TIA!

There are no real side effects due to the fact that HIDs use less power than standard halogen bulbs, and the only downside, although most brands advertise some thousands of hours of use,is when one bulb dies, you have to replace both bulbs. ^ and there are some 55w Hid Kits available. But most are infact 35w.

The HID''s use 35W when they are running but take about double that to ignite. The relay kit keeps the ignition power surge from frying the headlight switch on the steering column. I recommend the relay with an HID install.

Common knowledge finch... come on, if you replace one with a new bulb, then the other one will be dimmer than the other, thus having uneven light output.. lights get dim over time.Hid or halogen. so thats why its recommended to change both in such a scenario.

That''s what I figured, just wanted to make sure you weren''t trying to sell us the fact the the other light would not operate because they are somehow "linked" lol.

You definitely need a relay if your accord is equipped with auto headlight. Mine is 55w and one bulb turned off when I started the engine. After adding a relay, no problem. If you turn on the light after starting engine, no need to have a relay.

^^^ The relay saves the headlight switch that is sticking out of the steering column, that''s it. The relay has nothing to do with when you turn the lights on because if they turn off when you crank the engine, this won''t change. The OEM lead is the trigger to the relay, so if it turns off, so does the relay and whatever it is controlling. If your lights turn off when you crank the engine and you have HID''s, you should turn on the lights after you crank the engine wether you have the relay or not. Flashing HID''s on and off will burn out the ballast and igniter quickly.

ORIGINAL: falkore24 The relay has nothing to do with when you turn the lights on because if they turn off when you crank the engine, this won''t change. If you start engine with light on, the starter motor drains electric and the balaster may not have enough electric. That''s why one side of my HID kept turned off when I crank the engine. When engine is starting, voltage goes low enough to turn the bulb off but not completely disconnected. It does not light up until you turn it off and on again. So I installed relay which directly connects from the battery to the bulb to give direct supply of electricity and therefore prevent the supplied voltage to the balaster from going low. With 35w HIDs, I''ve never had any problem like this, but with 55w HID, it happens.
