hi, im new to the site. i just got an 88 accord 4-dr with an auto and broken timing belt for free. i have already scored a good head, and it has an auto. i have a turbo and a set of blue top dsm fuel injectors that i scored when i was gonna turbo my 1st gen crx. the accord is fuel injected(not sure if lx, or lxi), and i am curious if the auto trans will handle 5-10 psi of boost.

thnx in advance,
adam

did you pull the old head yet? are the pistons and walls ok?  FI is lxi and depending on the condition of the tranny I think 8 psi with a tranny cooler is the most I'd push it until you know the status of it.... However, if the previous owner didn't bother to replace the timing belt what else did they overlook for maintence....

im plannin on an inframe overhaul of the engine. and the trans oil is used, but not overly discolored and does not smell burnt. i appreciate ur advice. i have been the pround owner of a 87 crx si for 5 years now, and love it. i couldnt refuse at the very least a nice accord shell for free. but i have no experience with honda automatic tranny's.

It should hold ok. I wouldn't try and push it past 8psi. What turbo are you using?

im incredibly curious why you would want to turbo a car thats slow to begin with? i understand boosting a newer accord that starts with 200+ hp, but an 88?

hey i think what your doing is cool. it's the spirit of tuning what you have that is more important than what everyone else thinks you should have. the honda civic started the tuner movement and it was a slow car to begin with(still is) but people boost them in what ever way they can. so more power to you!!!!!

It would be an awesome sleeper car!

A modified car is better than a non-modified car in my opinion.  As long as the mods aren't some sort of tape or wire hanger. lol

Maybe because the 88 Accord is considerably lighter than the current Accord? 'Pocket racer' ftw(?)!

Ok 7 pounds of boost on a car that has... ohhh roughly if...iffff 100 hp after all the years will put out im guessing 140-150. But the only issue with this is that the car will never be able to handle this kinda of power due to well... everything in general not being strong enough and 150hp is stilll very slow. and on an auto have fun not pulling...ever, it will destroy your tranny, and front wheel drive is very homo anyway sooo yup you wont go anywhere... HAVE FUN! btw my stock 1981 ford 1 ton pickup will burn your ass. hahahahaha. losers.
