Creaking struts and sways - 4/29/2008 4:59:18 PM    atarikid07   Posts: 110 Joined: 3/3/2008 Status: offline My friend has an oldish Integra, and the owner previous to him dropped it and added struts and sways.  Now, every time we get in and he makes any kind of turn, you can hear the struts and sways creaking.  Do any of you guys get this, or could it be because of the age and wear and tear on the sways? _____________________________ 2000 Accord EX V6 - K&N Short Ram Intake - Pioneer DEH-P6000UB - Blue Courtesy and Dome LEDs Post #: 1

RE: Creaking struts and sways - 5/1/2008 7:34:31 PM    louofm1   Posts: 41 Joined: 1/25/2008 Status: offline Just a heads up.   My 95 accord had a similar creaking sound in the front suspension.   Raised it lubed the upper and lower ball joints ....and it would go away for a while.   It was worse when the weather was cold. Here is the important part.   I was backing out of a driveway a few days ago and heard a loud noise and my car was dead in it's tracks.  Drivers front wheel dropped and my car hit the ground.   The lower ball joint broke.   I was stuck on a main road with no way to move the car (and twin infants in the car).   I quickly got the babies out of the car so no one would slam into me.   Got the car towed. When the ball joint broke, it snapped by CV axle in half.   Luckly i was only moving very slowly in reverse (coming out of a driveway).    10 minutes earlier i was doing 70 mph on the highway with the babies in the car.   Mechanic told me that a break on the car could be extremely dangerous and would have surely caused more damage and possible transmission damage too. Sooo ....dont do what i did.  Dont ignore the creaking noise for 6 months.    get your ball joints/cv shafts checked out. (in reply to atarikid07) Post #: 2
