Front Strut Bar and Rear Sway Bar - 7/5/2008 6:03:48 PM    FoShoHondo   Posts: 12 Joined: 12/2/2007 Status: offline I have a 07 v6 AT and I have a couple of questions regarding a front strut bar and rear sway bar. How hard are both to install? Any links on where to get parts? Is it worth my time and money? Kinda new to this sorry. Any help would be great. They both work fine...But if ur suggesting no front strut. Then nvm. Rear sway, then front strut. RE: Front Strut Bar and Rear Sway Bar - 7/8/2008 12:24:08 PM    falkore24 Posts: 5076 Joined: 8/16/2007 From: Wayne, NJ Status: offline Rear sway definately ..... then front sway.  Any moving part is going to make a bigger difference than a brace.  Once the springs (linear and torsion) are tighter, then bracing becomes necessary.  When you stiffen the linear springs (that hold the car up) you also need to stiffen the dampers.  In the same way, after you stiffen the torsion springs (sway bars) you should stiffen the mounts and flex points in the chasis to make them work better (strut braces and tie bar). _____________________________ 2006 Scion TC 2000 V6-AT (RIP 3G) Temp Search thanks to Finch13 (in reply to 03Sleeper) Post #: 10

RE: Front Strut Bar and Rear Sway Bar - 7/8/2008 3:43:05 PM    falkore24 Posts: 5076 Joined: 8/16/2007 From: Wayne, NJ Status: offline actually, you are countering understeer by strengthening the rear more than the front swaybar, but that is not all a swaybar does.  It''s main function is to keep the car level when pulling a hard turn.  That is why you do both ..... better handling.  Understeer is only 1 component.  Another component is the strength and modulous of elasticity of the metal.  Two bars can be the same size and work totally differently.  Lastly, the amount of torsion of the bar can be tweeked with the placement of the end-link holes.  I have adjustable stiffness bars ..... they could easilly have been sepapate bars, made with the same size tubing and the same material, but different hole locations and that will make the bar harder or softer as well.  You need to look beyond the simple bigger is stronger mentality and also realize that on an accord, the understeer isn''t as bad as the sway (weight tilting the car on hard cornering).  On the tC, there is much more understeer, so my rear bar is over 350% stronger than OEM while the front is about 45% stronger .... not exact, I''d have to look them up. _____________________________ 2006 Scion TC 2000 V6-AT (RIP 3G) Temp Search thanks to Finch13 (in reply to 03Sleeper) Post #: 12
