also, if you look on autogeek they have a headlight cleaning kit, it basically buffs it down with a very mild abrasive, same as the sandpaper maybe a little less guess work

I agree, wetsanding is your only hope and it still may not work. If I knew how I would offer advice. Find a shop or someone that knows how and give it a go. It will have to be buffed afterward to see if it worked or not.

also something else that came to mind is on my old mustang (yeah I am originally a ford guy) the headlights did not drain, somehow they would let water in but no drain.. I had to take the assembly out and wash the inside of them, before putting them back I drilled a few small holes in the lower sections of the headlight unit, which fixed it pretty much. so make sure it is something on the outside, either way you will get the same yellowish tinting of the lense..

i would do these steps in order.

1.wash it
2.claybar
3.wet sand using lightest to rougher. start from 2000 then use 1000
4.plastic x
5.polish
6.wax

^^^  you''re suggesting sanding in the wrong order.  Also, calybar is unnecessary if wetsanding .... maybe after a polish, then clay and re-polish.

There is a headlight cleaning/restoartion kit for $20 at wal-mart or any other auto place.  Also, Krylon makes a clear coat spray the blocks UV rays.  If you just wet sand it down you get rid of the buildup but are allowing uv to destroy the headlight again by entering through the lens, bouncing off the reflectors inside which then destroys all of the headlight.

This might sound stupid but if money is tight try toothpaste. It has grit to cut through the haze and a polish to shine it up.
