Hi everyone. First time posting here.

I wanted to find out what everyone''''s opinions on me getting a rebuilt radiator for my 1996 Honda Accord LX. I have very little money which is why I''''m considering this route.

As I am writing this, I just made a call to Firestone Auto Repair. They told me that they don''''t even make rebuilt radiator''''s for this year. He said that''''s for really old cars dating back before the 1980s. He mentioned something about copper and plastic. Is this true? I won''''t even be able to get a rebuilt?  He quoted me $369.28 after tax for a brand new one. That is the best price I have found so far for a new radiator installed. I''''ve been quoted as high as $540 after taxes. Midas quoted me about $420 after taxes.

NOTE: In case anyone tells me to do it myself to save money. I don''''t know how. And am not willing to take the risk of making a mistake. I don''''t feel comfortable working on cars.

PS: I also got a Code P0117 (Engine Coolant Temperature Circuit Low Input). The Firestone mechanic on the phone said that I shouldn''''t need a Diagnostic Engine Check for that. He said he''''d manually reset it after the radiator has been installed. And that that light should go off after driving it for 45 miles once you''''ve topped off the anti-freeze/coolant. I haven''''t driven it since it overheated though in fear I might cause more damage. Is he right on this too? I thought for sure I was gonna need a new Coolant Temperature Sensor.

Still problems posting here too...

Cant say much about labor prices without knowing where you are. They vary a LOT!
Personally Id replace it myself. Not to disagree with you, but just saying Im no good at judging labor prices.
