Wondering what upsizing will do to your speedometer & odometer reading?
Once there scroll down to "compare tire A to tire B."
Enter your current size and the one you would like, then scroll down for the readout.
Full directions are at the bottom of the page.

Your tire size is on the side of the tire. Here's a link to more info:

Tex,
great link, i just used it, i just chaged from 205 65 15 to 225 40 18 and suprised to see that it only made a vey slight difference on the speedo.

speedo is ok, the odometer will read more miles than i have on the car as well though, but hey, when your ride has 123k on it already, does sit really matter!!!.

tks for the link, good stuff.

Hi RTexasF,

Your Tire & Wheel Size Calculator is a nifty tool. I would like to use it, unfortunately, I am not familiar with the dimesions being used here. I'm ignorant of this topic and I would like to know if there is a link that explains the sizing and measurements of tires and wheels to fully understand it.

My apologies to everyone, I know little about wheels and tire sizes. Any hints would be appreciated. Thanks a lot.

Kind regards,
Luke

also, www.tirerack.com has some great info on sizing and will show you a mock up of your car with the wheels you select. Great for visual representations

a brief explantion of tire sizing... the first number in the tire size is the width of the tread measured in millimeters, standard sizes are usually jumped in 10mm increments, almost always ending in 5... but NOT always (Michelin 220/55/390) The second number is called the tires aspect ratio, it is how to calculate the sidewall height. To determine the side wall, you need to multiply the second number(as a percentage) times the first number. For example, a 205/50/15 has a side wall of 102.5mm - 205 x .5 = 102.5 A 205/40/15 has a side wall of 82mm - 205 x .4 = 82 The last number is the simplest, it is the diameter of the wheel the tire is to be fitted too... as in the example above it isn't alwys in inches, but most often is.....
