Sort of a general question I know but just wondering how difficult it would be to replace the transmission on a 1987 Accord LX 2.0L carb no A/C It just started to slip and makes a terrible whine or Zzzzzzzzz sound when driving and today wouldn''t go into R initially. I loose the ability to accelerate and have to slow down and almost stop before stepping on the gas works again. I don''t have access to a garage but I have done some work in the past like changing the starter and I''ve done brake work so I have some ''DIY skills''. [image][/image] If I put the car up on stands is it doable or would I need a mechanic with a garage? If I am able to find a tranny from a wrecker what do I have to match it with? I saw something about accord or prelude models might work if engine code was b20. I know where I can get one for $100 but I''d have to remove it 1st. Any feedback appreciated.

It''s a lot of work, at least 8 hours if not more. You would need a good manual, tools, 2 jacks or tranny jack, and some help. Tons of work... just thinking about it brings back nightmares.

ok. Thanks for the candid feedback. I guess it depends on how ambitious I am and whether it is worth my time, or money to pay someone else to do it.
