My car is a 1994 ex accord 5spd manual. Lately I've been noticing that after driving my car for awhile when I go into neutral my car idles super high at like 2k rpms and stays that way until the engine is cool again. When I first start the car and drive it, it idles perfectly at 700 rpms. I'm worried that this is gonna be affecting fuel economy on my car.

just to clarify it idles at that point even when nothing is running besides the motor? I.E. no a/c on

side note: I have seen/heard of this occuring due to the car needing a tune up... I.E. Plugs wires, cap, rotor (if applicable) and air filter (I've seen it where a plugged air filter causes a higher idle... but that was on an older chevy I believe...

check your ICV. usually when the car heats up something may be binding or a value has changed for the resistor. also check your TB for freedom of movement when engine is at operating temp.

Also aside all the good ideas that were adviced to you,, remove the intake tube from the throttle body and clean the trottle plate,, i have seen them gum up and stick .. get some carb cleaner and a rag, spray cleaner on rag , open the plate by the accell cable and clean all the area where the plate would open and close ..
