Check out this accord.. 1350HP.

What engine is in that beast? F22? H22?

I was going to say it probably has a V8, but it appears to still be FWD.  but i doubt either the h22 or f22 can make that much hp

They said it was a 2.2 liter.  It's probably an F22.  Almost anything is possible if you got enough $.  I've heard of a 1600hp Eclipse 4banger before (it was on some racing show on the Speed channel a while back) it was rear wheel drive though.  More like a funny car than an Eclipse.

i was going to buy an eclipse before i got my accord. But every car that i got in was in terrible shape. Found one at an auction with low miles and standard trans, but it reeked/reaked of ciggs, the boot on the shifter was all torn up, and the instrument panel was missing the...well everything. The lables were missing, that tell you mph's temp fuel rpms. Easy fix i know, but why is it gone? anyway i gave up on my eclipse search and bought my Accord. Then less than a month later they came out with the new eclipse, i was pretty furious

Yeah the 95-99 4cyl in the Eclipse was supposed to be one of the best/strongest 4cyl motors around.  But like you said, it's tough to find one that either has a crapload of miles on it, or is dogged out.  I couldn't even find one I wanted to test drive back when I was car shopping.  My 2000 LX was the first car I test drove.  i bought it a few hours later.

what a coincidence, me too. First off the salesman was the nicest guy in the world. When i went for the test drive he cranked the AC and the car still took off, i decided 20Ft. after i pulled out of the dealership that this was the car that i wanted.

the 4G63 is one of the strongest 4cyl motors around(eclipse and evo engine)  I have 3 friends that own eclipses 2 have the GSX(AWD) and 1 has the GST(FWD). they are undoubtly fast,  but they arent the nicest cars to drive, they have alot of rattles and dont handle all too great.

however my two friends with the GSXs, one runs a 13.5 and the other is in the low 12s high 11s

and i still dont think its possible to make 1300hp on a SOHC 2.2l engine.  Shadow make about 500 and thats with a 2.5l stroker h22.

if you guys look hard enough on youtube, theres a eclipse with a massive sized turboed (too big too close hood) 4g63 (evo engine) and it does a 7.5 quarter. look for it!

its impressive to get that much hp out of a 4cyl.  but that is hardly a eclipse, tube chassis, RWD, motors not even mounted transversely

I don't understand the madness behind that.  For probably 1/2 the amount of money, they could have had a V8 car every bit as fast.  I don't see how they could be considered "4cyl" class with those times.  I doubt there are many 4 cylinder cars that could even come close to that.  So either they would be running the track alone, or they will have to move up to the V8 class for any decent competition.
