Hey guys,

im looking into purchasing this 07 Accord Ex coupe with 11000 miles. The price is low for the car and before purchasing i would like a carfax report.

If you can run a carfax report for me, please send me a pm and i'll supply the VIN.

Thanks,
Ownage

Why can't the dealer get it for you?????  They will usually get it if you ask them to.

The dealer won't run the carfax report for me but instead supplied me with the vehicle's VIN number.

Must not be a Honda dealership.  In that case, I'd tell them that if they don't get it than you're not interested, but I like to play hardball.

If you don't mind my asking, what is the price?  Sticker or negotiated?  KBB?

It is not through a Honda Dealer, it is through a private dealer.

The price is $16700, negotiated. Kelly Blue Book says $22,500 for this vehicle and the trade in value is marked at around $19500.

I see your concern .... .I'd be concerned too.  That price is too low for it to be perfect .... too low even for a minor accident.

A carfax would be great. :)

If someone buys one car fax report for $29.99, they have unlimited for a certain period of time.

Don't rely 100% on Carfax. A good friend who owns a large body shop says that many damaged vehicles are not reported. Don't know the procedure for "totaled" vehicles due to floods and body damage. JUST BE CAUTIOUS! On the other hand, if the report shows damage, I'd believe it!

and since you want the carfax, that person should be you.

you will then have unlimited carfax reports for other vehicles you look at, since this one must have something seriously wrong with it.  sack up.

yes, it is true that carfax do not always show severe accidents.  back in 2005, i almost totalled my 2001 ford ranger with over $7,000 worth of damage to the front end.  neither the insurance company (state farm) nor the body shop that did the work reported it.  i do still own the vehicle, and the repair was almost perfect except a couple of oversprays i can notice since i know where to look--i just had a carfax done 6 months ago, a full 2 years after the accident and it shows NO ACCIDENTS! ;-)

but yes again, it is prudent to do a carfax on any vehicle you are buying since if it shows an accident--BELIEVE IT!  it will be something like if a deadbeat creditor had a private loan that was not reported to the credit bureau and his credit profile is clean, that is one thing!  however, if you have a person with derogatory credit, then hey, why the heck lend him any money right?

the price does sound too good to be true...besides the carfax, get it inspected by a honda dealer--nothing will replace that kind of scrutiny!!!

Good luck my friend...acc0rdman

your best bet to find someone with unlimited reports is to look at who's bought a used car recently ...... the new member area.  But as mentioned, you should be the one with the unlimited reports because you are buying a car!  Is $30 that hard to produce?

Go ahead and post the VIN# on here.  A VIN is not confidential.
That dealer is shady to not give you a carfax.  I bought my 2000 accord from a rinky dink dealer that only had about 30 cars on his lot.  He gave me a carfax (I already had one anyway though.)
As a dealer, I guarantee you he has a contract with Carfax so he gets them all the time and is not charged on a car by car basis.  He probably has a Carfax already.  I smell a rat.

Then I wouldn't deal with that dealer if it was me...
