Car Security??

I have a Viper 791XV Alarm, and was wondering what else I can do to secure my car's safety. Whenever I park my car I always put on a steering wheel lock, put my headunit away, and arm my alarm. Are there any other locks I can get?

you could get a killswitch. its a hidden switch that only you know where it is, it kills all power to the car when its off, and uve gotta flip it on whnever you get back to ur car. ive got one in mine. ask a guy at an electronics/alarm place about em.

In my last car I had a Clifford RSX, either the alarm was a POS or it was installed wrong. A few of the sensors wouldn't,t always trip like my hood, or battery disconnect sensor. The thing I had always wanted to do was install four alarm sirens, or even a couple air horns just constantly going off INSIDE the car. I hope that would be so ridiculously loud who ever was trying to break in wouldn't be able to be in it long enough to steal anything or the car. Now I know they would try and disconnect the battery, but I had two batteries and I doubt they would find the second one in the rear.

u have a good bit of security, but i also agree with a kill switch. but i don't know if that would kill da power of your alarms also can be found at
www.summitracing also there are lights sold on ebay that come in red/blue and flashs when there is a vibration to your door. I think it has a censor that goes in door panel.

you could install a proximity sensor. If a person even gets near your car, it'll start to go off. There's all kinds of sensors you can buy, glass breakage sensor, and even an air pressure sensor that measures the air pressure so when someone opens the door while the car is locked, it'll go off.As for the alarm inside, directed electronics makes a small siren to put inside the cab. all these products are from directed electonics. hope this helps.

granted those triggers are great technology, but ive found (from experience) that most people find them more annoying than anything, exp. the proximity sensor. plus with the 791 the remote beeps constantly from anything to like said previously if someone stands next to your car or another car is parked a little too close, or i once even saw the extreme cases of big bugs and birds setting them off, or making warning chirps. and the glass sensor works great if you dont have tinted windows. im not saying that these are bad things i just have been told that your alarm going off everytime you park at the mall gets so common that they just quit checking on their car and miss it when someone really does break in. im not trying to be rude or anything, but as an installer i found out that if someone is going to break into your car their gonna do it whether or not you have an alarm, and most radios can be stolen in the time it takes you to run out of a store to your car. the alarm may stop the car from being stolen but usually not the stuff inside. do you have an aftermarket radio?

Yeah, get a kill switch for the battery or the fuel pump. But I do think you are pretty well protected already. Do you live in a place that has alot of cars stolen?
I think it'd be sweet if you wired an electric fence just under the outer layer of cloth in your seat, and then if the alarm is activated it activates the electric fence, so when they sit in your car...it wont be for very long!
Or maybe somehow you could create a locking system on your handbrake. That way if they stole your car all you would have to do is follow the tire marks and the line of people saying "did you see that cars?!?!"

The Viper 791 has a built in Starter Kill Relay, so you don't need to buy another. Plus our Accords have immobilizers in the ignition system. They won't start w/o the key being in the key cylinder (unless you remote start them).
If you really want more security get LoJack or Viper's GPS Tracker (http://www.viper. /Products/GPSTracking.aspx).
You can add a tilt sensor (DEI 507) to your 791, incase somebody tries to jack it up and tow it off.
Or a siren w/ a battery back up, incase the thief gets manages to find your siren and cuts the wire.
120db piezo sirens under the dash to make the thief's ears bleed.
I'm assuming you've got wheel locks so your wheels don't get stolen, correct?

the best security is comprehensive coverage with a low deductible.

Haha! x2. But you need to read your policy. Some policies do not cover aftermarket radios or electronic devices in the car. Also some policies do not cover anything else that may have been of value in the car.
Or get a trunkmonkey:

very true. when I added the avic to my m3, i called geico to add the extra value to the policy. i hear they are real sticklers for that, including tint.

Yes I do have wheelocks on my car. And you said that the Viper 791XV comes with a killswitch? I don't see any switches like that around. Where do they normally put that switch? If I do find it I can just flick it off and there goes all my electrical power? What powers my alarm then?
Also, I don't see any wires running from my battery after they installed the Viper, does that mean that the Viper has a separate battery that charges it? If so, do you know where they would have put it? I don't see it anywhere.
I just purchased one of the Mini Pienzo sirens, looks cool. It'll be a pain to test it if it really kills your ears.
What are some brands for those tilt sensors you were talking about?

do you live in a **POOPY** part of town? I havent even thought of investing in an alarm in the last 10 years.

you really cant prevent gettin your car broken into unless you put in like bulletproof glass or sumtin but the ravelco security is supposedly proven to be virtually impossible to bypass and get your car stolen
http://www.ravelco. and whats with the trunk monkey??

the kill switch looks like a toggle switch. and the reason you cant see anything they installed is because your not supposed to. if you could easily find it, then so could any seasoned criminal. i think directed electronics has a tilt switch, but if the person tries it and the alarm goes off and their smart they'll just get a buddy and jack the whole car up at once. and just one thought about testing the siren... earplugs?

I knew about the earplugs I just didn't want to go out of my way finding a pair. I see what you mean by everything being hidden, but I'd still like to know if I have a 2nd battery or not, because one of my cousins told me that there isn't a 2nd batery at all. But there has to be another power souce because there are no wires running from my main car battery.
Also no, I don't live in a messed up town, in fact, my neighborhood is full of nothing but houses with inground pools and courts (mine too :D ). So I don't really know why I'm doing all this. I guess the Viper alarm itself is fine. The thing is I take this car wherever I go, but the more I go to rotten cities the more I stay close to my car.

you can get earplugs at any drugstore / hardware store.

sorry about the earplugs remark... i admit it was kinda rude. but if you wanna see the wires look under your steering column and find the main harness. thats where you find a 12 volt source and switch and door locks wires. depending on the installer and how much time they took you will either see the brain or maybe all the wires. and the best way to find out if there is a second battery is to find your reciept and look to see if you purchased a battery back up. if not then there's not. in that case you may want to invest in one. the reason you dont use the main battery is because it would be easily seen and disabled. oh and btw. you can also get a switch that wont allow the car to start with the hood popped( it will still run if you start and then pop, but not if you pop and then try to start). oh and we're all just messing with you about all the security, i have a saying "Whatever floats your boat." and if it makes you feel better to know that if some idiot is jacking up your car to steal your rims your alarm will go off thats cool. and if you need anymore advice or help let us know we're all here to help.

I just received my mini Pienzo siren. It has a pos and neg wire to it, pretty short too. Where can I connect these two wires? I looked under my steering wheel column and found a load of wires and devices, even the shock sensor control unit. It's wayy to confusing down there and I don't know of any places to plug the two wires into.

i would suggest heading to a local bestbuy and talking to an installer, i know i've done stuff like that for people for like twenty bucks, i just make them sign a waiver saying i didnt install the system and i dont guarentee it to work or anything just that the install will be right. and look at that shock sensor again, make sure it somewhere where a vibration will set it off. ive seen some that would need to be t-boned to have a reaction

btw just so everyone knows i'm just suggesting bestbuy because they sell that alarm and probably know the wire colors for the brain to add a siren, not just because i'm an installer there.
