chopping or heat up springs???

i have a 92 accord EX and i bought tokico HP shocks and springs. they say its going to lower it 1.25 but i dont think its going to be enough. what do you think about chopping them or heating them up to lower it down more...

That's a hack way to do it so don't. Use the proper items required or be satisfied with the 1.25" drop

cutting them is prob the most sensible but if you torch them u have just changed whats called spring rate and u might not even be able to support the car let alone handle the road. truthfully thats not the way u wanna go unless u own a junk yard and have hundreds of springs. the u are just passing time. nothing else.

Dont be ghetto.  How low do you really want to go?  I think 1.25 is just about perfect for a daily driver.  Low enough to look good and handle better, not so low that you scrape all over the place.

Ya dont want to cut or heat the springs, it changes the molecular structure of the steel and makes it un safe.
If you want to go lower then I suggest you think about
going to coil-over springs..

If I were going to cut a spring, I'd use a cut-off wheel and be applying cooling water to the spring and cut-wheel as the cut is being made.  If the spring metal right at the cut is kept at normal temperature during the cut, the spring's "temperament" will not change.
 
Of course any change in the overall length of the spring will definitely cause the car to not absorb bumps as well.  For example, imagine what would happen if you cut the spring in half.

even  if you did above the spring is still going to travel the same wheather the spring normal size or smaller

a side note on the whole spring cutting thing as well.... most springs actually have a dual spring rate, meaning the bottom 2/3 compress more quickly than the top 1/3, so if you cut it you will change things pretty drastically, and if you cut a piece off the top vs. a piece off the bottom that makes a HUGE difference.... I don't recall if honda does this on OEM springs or not... but most aftermarket ones do... I Know H&R does and so do most bilsteins

All I know is that I have ridden in cars with cut springs, and the ride is HORRIBLE.  I dont know why someone would cut the springs instead of saving up a little money and doing it right.  What does it cost for a set of springs, like $200?
