Pro: Borla Thumper...so it's quality.
Con: 4" ! It's gonna be hella loud.
Pro: Apexi WS2 NA Muffler....again A+ Quality with good member feedback.
Con: 60mm inlet....
Pro: Price
Con: Bosal? Has anyone used this brand before?
Pro: Magnaflow...and competitive price
Con: Users have complained that it is too loud.
And...I still need to worry about piping (2.5" because my vehicle is not turboed) at the muffler shop. And how long the piping has to be due to the size of the mufflers!
Help?

Is this horsepower & torque at the wheels or at the crank? If it is at the wheels, it wouldn't surprise me if it is correct.

I dunno...whatever "average corrected horsepower" means...

It's at the wheels and seems very realistic to me, the AEM that is. I can't see the other one very well.

The Injen one is straight off the box. It has three colors....red, black, and dotted black. What they mean, I have no idea, but its a torque graph.

My vote is for the Apexi. Have you priced all of them? How do they compare, pricewise?
03Sleeper
4/7/2007 12:19:29 PM
Yep.
Apexi: $179.99 + $30 SH = $209.99
Borla: $180.95 + $18 SH = $198.95
Bosal: $149 + $15 SH = $164
Magnaflow: $91.01 + $0 SH = $91.01
EDIT- Keep in mind, these prices are just for the muffler...I need to contact the muffler shop about the 2.5" piping (mandrel bent) down to whatever inlet size it is. Most are not 2.5" Apexi is close with 2.36", then Borla/Magnaflow/Bosal (probably) with 2.25"
How much would the pipe job cost? $200+?

I would tend to shy away from a $90 muffler, but thats just me. I dont know how much searching you have done, you may be able to find a cheaper Apexi than that. Just a thought. When you get a quote for the custom piping, let us know how much its going to be.

LMAO. I take it you are a big Greddy fan... I have tried to find a good sound clip for the Evo 2 on an Accord to no avail, but the Evo 2 is one of my personal options.

@Shadow
Greddy EVO 2 universal mufflers only fit the 7th gen coupes...not for sedans. :-/
Unless you can find me one...
EDIT- Hold on on the muffler....schools starting soon and my funds have dwindled. Perhaps when this semester is over...(May)

just a muffler, no catback?
i would go with something that's not on your list, DC sports
im using it right now, it has a great sound, but not nearly as good as a catback would deliver
planning to get a megan racing catback soon

I saw this really odd "twin canister" DC Sports muffler...
Well, if I'm getting new piping....it's kinda like getting a catback. Not really, but.....
Anyways....the shop cost is around 100+...I emailed a local NAPA. The result will come soon. The piping is 2.5" right? I should have asked for 2.25" because that's what the muffler inlet is....oh well.

Thanks for the link. But I just don't like round can mufflers...they appear too ricey for me. I prefer the old-fashioned and tried oval design much like the stock one. It's part of the sleeper look.
Round cans ain't my style. :-/

I want to get the Apexi WS exhaust via Cardomain...cheapest price I've seen. But I probably need to get it professionally done. :(

yea, cardomain has great prices

I want to find a price lower than Cardomain's though....I just wanna bust their 105% "LOWER THAN EVERYBODYS PRICE!" bubble.

i beat their price with a sri that's $95 from this site i found on yahoo shopping, they approved of it and gave me the coupon code, but the problem is that they will buy it from that site and send it to me from the other site, not from cardomain
the reason why i didnt use it was cause the other site didnt use the dryflow filter from AEM, but cardomain's sri does, and i want the dryflow

I kinda want to try the twin loop DC Sports muffler. Its supposed to be pretty good, both in sound and performance.

The design baffles me....does it increase/decrease backpressure? is it in a sense kinda of a "turbo" muffler where it reuses the exhaust?
quote:
They meet the federal requirements for noise emissions, but still create a nice, sporty exhaust note. They do this by using a resonator before the exhaust, and a straight-through muffler packed with stainless steel wool and fiberglass. These exhaust systems are made of durable polished stainless steel with an aggressive look, and a 4 in. stainless steel tip.
