I recently purchased a 2007 Accord EX-V6 with auto trans. The trans seems erratic in the way it shifts.
When cruising in 'Drive' below 50 MPH, and removing foot from accelerator, the car never slows down the same way: Sometimes it 'coasts' like all other cars I've driven. Other times the engine remains engaged, and the car slows down faster than I expect. But most of the time, the engine remains engaged, and after slowing some, it down-shifts, and it feels like the brakes went on. The down-shift never occurs the same way, and it's difficult to judge when to remove foot from gas pedal when approaching a stop.
This is particularly annoying when driving in slow traffic, because it requires constant speed adjustment with the gas pedal.
My gas mileage is poor, and I suspect that erratic transmission operation is the  reason.
I'd like to know your opinion on this issue.

I see the downshifting in mine when i let off the gas at 50, thoug I have a 4cyl.  It may coast too.  I guess I dont really pay attention or care enoguh to think about it.

Take it to the dealer and show them.  If there is somethign wrong, they'll take care of it.

Honda uses whats called fuzzy-logic to control their transmissions, simply your foot on or off the gas pedal may cause different reactions everytime do to other inputs that are not under a drivers direct control. What kind of mpg are you getting?  My 06/v6/6mt gets an average of about 26 mpg.  Thats with 13 highway miles and 5 city per direction(to/from work).

Point taken RTexasF, you are right, it was his 1st post thought and i know that you just wanted to clarify that to him....and then my suggestion is to have an Admin/Mod move this thread to a more appropriate section....
