exhaust driving me nuts!

Hello all. I'm having a bit of a problem with a new b-pipe I installed on my 97 accord lx 2 door. Instead of getting the oem part from honda I bought a Walker oe style pipe. Looks pretty much the same except for the placement of the flex section. Anyhow, the car now has a low drone at 2500 rpms. It's annoying as hell and gets real loud under heavy loads like going up hills or getting on the freeway. Once the motor passes 2500 rpms the drone is gone. Everything is tight and there are no leaks. I can't figure out why the hell this is happening. I don't think the flex placement has anything to do with it. The only other thing I can think of is the oem pipe was 1 3/4" and the Walker is 2". I'm about ready to just scrape it and order a pipe from honda. Any ideas before I dump another $170 into this exhaust? thanks. jackson

is a "B-pipe" the same as a mid-pipe? New resonator? Maybe weld in the original resonator.

Yeah. The b-pipe is the same as cat back or center pipe. Old resonator is in the garbage.

what kind of muffler did you put on. If it's a performance type, then it will drone a bit. My WS2 setup does.

It's not a perfomance pipe. It's a Walker aftermarket OE style pipe.

I have the Apexi WS2 cat back (same car, except two more doors). My exhaust was hitting and was loud and you could feel the vibration.
Turns out, the mid section, near the first bend (almost exactly underneath the center of the car) was right next to a nut/bolt, and we could see a scrape on the pipe. So we knew it was hitting there and put a really good coat of High temp silicone on there and havent had a problem since.

not the pipe, the
muffler.

yeah i'm not sure the pipe increase would cause all the drone itself? i'd think it'd most likely be a resonator or muffler tip causing the sound
one thing im confused on is did you replace the entire cat-back, or JUST the b-pipe?

I'm thinking he replaced the pipe and muffler, but deleted the resonator and used a universal muffler, but then again, he hasn't really given us details other than a 2" pipe.

The muffler is an OE style replacement that was put on last year. The new b-pipe which is a welded one piece pipe from the cat to the muffler axle pipe is a Walker 46865 OE style pipe. The resonator on it is the same size, shape, and in the exact same position as the OEM pipe that was on the car. Like I said, the only differences between the old pipe and new one are the 1/4" increase in diameter and the flex placement. I can't see either of those making a whole lot of difference in the sound. I've put aftermarket exhaust on cars before that weren't exactly the best quality and never had this happen. I did have to deal with slight resonance before but only with performance pipes. Never at all with OE style. Unbelievable. thanks. jackson

I'm leaning towards that 1/4 inch making more of a difference than you think.... Perhaps a silencer would help

Aren't Cherry Bombs a brand of glass pack? I had one on a long time ago...

Yeah, Cherry Bombs are just famous red glass packs about 2 feet long or so? My dad used to have them on his Cuda, but he says they crap out pretty quickly.
