Hi guys, I have some question about an exhaust.
Just got my 07 4cyl accord few months ago and im wanting to change few things here and there.
I really dont know anything about tuning so heres the question. Is the piping necessary when getting
a exhaust??? and if i just get the exhaust, does it give me any performance boost?? or is it just the
sound???

you mean exhasut tip? if you get and exhaust tip then it doesnt boost your horsey. it just give you the look. if you get a real exhaust you will need pipe and it give you more horsey and sound, but cost you alot more. Exhaust tips just give you the look.

hope that help

Saying "exhaust" is vague. It can either be an exhaust tip, exhaust muffler, or a catback exhaust.

Exhaust tip - as baddawg said, it doesn't boost horsepower at all and just gives a new look.
Exhaust Muffler - some people like to just buy a brand or generic aftermarket muffler. They chainsaw the old muffler off and weld the new one in, leaving the piping and the resonator and everything stock and untouched. This change is strictly sound change only and BARELY gives any                  performance boost or horsepower.
Catback Exhaust - this is a much more common upgrade that most of the HAF users have. With a new catback exhaust system you're changing the piping from your stock catalytic converter (or you can remove the cat and have a straight pipe) all the way back to your new muffler. This makes the exhaust even louder and gives a noticable gain. This is an upgrade that will definitely give a boost in power due to larger exhaust piping, elimination of the resonator, smaller muffler, bigger exhaust outlet = smoother exhaust flow = more horsepower. A common catback exhaust is the Apexi WS2.

What exactly are you looking for? Performance? Sound? Whatever you're looking for, you can find out what you will buy using the above descriptions. The only thing I don't know is if there are any exhausts for an 07 accord. There might be, but I don't know.

Wat i ment was a exhaust muffler and "pyaarawala" answered my question. THANKS!!
Well, guess ill go for the catback Exhaust.  I dont want something thats too loud, but i do want that performance boost.
I HATE!!!! those mufflers that sounds cheap and that hurts ur ears.
It sucks because nothings really out for the 07 model.... errrrr

Thanks again for the comment.

you will notice the more hp gain in a catback with a v6 than a i4 and bigger piping gives it a somewhat louder sound

the very very max you can get away with a NA engine is 2.5", most users opt for 2.25". If your pipes are too large...you'll lose a lotta power due to lack of backpressure.

if you turbo it, the piping can be increased to 3" for better flow.

if you're just looking for sound, a different muffler will do. if y ou want power, a catback will do. simple as that

Greddy will get you more performance (straight flow design) but much much louder. Apexi is softer/quieter (chamber design) which is a tad better than stock.
