f20b DOHC Vtec

I was wondering is it a good idea to swap out my stock engine (97accord lx sohc) not sure what engine it is f22 i think for a F20b dohc engine? is it a common swap or a bad idea?

i was wondering i cant find any parts for the engine is it compatable with any other i hear its pretty close to the H22

yes, pretty much all parts(bolt ons) are interchangeable with h22

IC  man wish i knew more about engines cuz im gonna buy it off a guy and iono what to really look for  =P

most important thing to look for is if it is leaking oil

ok but what does that mean if its leakign oil? im total car noob

it means some gasket is going to need to be replaced.  esp a big deal when its a head gasket.

Head gasket sets runs you at least 300+. 

Naw too Fat..you been shopping at NAPA again..i think only they have a head gasket for that kind of money..Advance or AutoZone...much less costly..and there FelPro...

Alright so i got my f20b  and i was wondering what ecu would i need because mine is non vtec so what one would work?

non vtec f20?  you mean f22b?.  just get a chipped p28

p28 is the ecu out of the eg gen civics.  easily tunable to whatever application. wwwphearable.net they will hook you up

hmm im confused that chip is for a  eg obd1 isnt the f20b obd2? sorry i ask alot of dumb things.

yeah they make conversion harnesses from obd2-1(~$75)

obd1 is far superior for tuning

oh ok kool is it says they have already chiped but doesnt say what ecu it is is it the p28?

i believe so, that or a p31 or something,  i have one in my car(now run by hondata).  they did a good job tuning it.  

ic how much did it cost to get yours tuned

just the ECU from phearable? or hondata?
