60K miles and in mint shape but the fan 'noise' becoming more and more distinct practically a hum at this point.
It does not pull on the motor as far as the tach reads when in neutral or drive. Any ideas before
I go to the dealer blind? Thanks in advance!

Sounding like your bearing may be going out on your Water-Pump.
If you have a fan clutch on the front see if it wiggles back and forth, if it does then your bearing may be getting bad.
Also have you changed your timeing belt ever?

Is it possible that a fan shroud or some item in/around the fans is vibrating when the fan is engaged? That would make the fan appear to be louder.

thanks for the reply. Turns out the hum/fan noise was my alternator going. 60K miles and an alternator? must be the Florida heat I guess.

thanks for the reply. I focused in on the areas of alternator, water pump etc..everything driven by the belt and as it turns out it was the alternator. Now I'm trying to find the procedure to reset the SRS warning light which goes on the fritz when you have an electrical situation I understand. If you know something I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Sorry, I don't have the answer but just wanted to let you know that mine has 74,000 mile on it. My fan is pretty loud as well. When I'm idling, and the fan kicks on, the car shudders for a second, almost as if it is going to stall out. Good luck.

It souds like I also have the same problem. I have a 4 door sedan. My noise sounds like it is also getting louder, however the fan noise turns off when I turn off the AC. I don't recall this noise being this loud. Any suggestions would help. Is your noise always on including when you have the AC on?
