Hi Everyone,

I just bought my first Honda yesterday, an 89 Accord, stick shift. It didn't pass smog this morning but I downloaded the manual and am getting ready to replace the O2 sensor as it's only $30. The catalytic converter is only 2 years old, and based on my emissions readout, it looks like a faulty O2 sensor.

Provided I can get the thing to pass smog, I will hang onto this car for a while, it'll be a good project car for me. Something I REALLY want to learn this year is how to flush my brakes and do a general brake repair. I'm skittish about touching anything brake related.

My experience has mostly come from a similar project car, a 95 Mitsubishi Galant that I fixed all sorts of stuff on... motor mounts, headlights, all regular maintenance, interior cosmetic repairs. In case you can't tell, I'm a big believer in Automotive Empowerment. Prior to that I learned alot by working on a 1991 Mitsubishi Mirage. I like Japanese cars I guess.

Non-ABS brake systems are pretty easy to do actually.  Welcome to the forum!
