Gas smell

I have a 1992 Honda Accord. Over the last few weeks, I have been smelling gasoline for a short while just after I start the car in the morning. After a minute or two, the smell goes away. It seems to happen only after the first time I start it in morning, not later in the day. The smell of gasoline is very distinct and strong. It always goes away promptly. I took the car into the shop. They kept it for a couple of days and returned it to us without finding anything. I have stared under the hood after starting the car and have not been able to see anything. I am afraid to drive a car with a gasoline leak, but at the same time I don't know what to do to find where the problem is. Any ideas?

Could be leaking fuel injectors or a ruptured fuel pressure regulator diaphragm. 

1. After the car sits overnight, remove the spark plugs and turn the ignition to on (don't start the car).  The fuel system should build pressure, and you would smell gas from the spark plug holes if the injectors are leaking.

2.  Remove the vacuum hose from the fuel pressure regulator.  The hose shouldn't smell like gas.  If it does, then the diphragm ruptured and is bypassing gas to the intake.

also look around the intake manifold where the injectors enter, for brownish stains from the gas evaporating

it could also be a bad charcoal canister,, I have seen a few of those saturated
