alright everyone, ive posted a thread about engine swaps and havent really gotten any convincing data on that... so might as well go with the next best thing... or first best... whatever the deal is...
i have a f23a1 i was thinking of buying a t3 stage 3 turbo ..... what kind of work do i need to get done to the motor before the initial install???

you can leave the motor stock if you like, nothing that you have to do to it per-say except install the components. If you want to push a lot of bost then you'll want to go to stronger components and a decent fuel managment system

the man the myth the legend himself, hows it going sir_nasty....
what kind of power should i expect from a stock motor with whatever the max recommended boost is ???
i wouldnt want to run the max recommended anyways but just for an FYI...
id prolly only run about 4 or 5psi if thats not pushing it lol.... also would this shorten the life of my f23??

That will be fine. The max boost is 6-8 psi, and I would never go over 6 if it were me. As far as shortening the life of the engine, it simply depends how you drive it. A few runs here and there is ok but all the time and itll be a short ride. I would also switch over to a good synthetic oil.

As long as you don't dog the sh** out of the f23 w/ the turbo, (as many people do when they get a turbo) youll be fine. Even if the f23 does blow, they are relatively cheap these days. How many miles are on your f23 right now??

I think it would be hard not to drive the crap out of it after you did all the work putting the turbo in. I say it will likely shorten the engine life.

it has about 132400 miles ....i changed my oil over the weekend to mobile1 5w-30 full synthetic... runs smooth as a whisle....
i understand i even checked the spark plugs (crappy bosh platinums) and they looked ok... but still thinking about changing over to ngk...

get the Bosch out immediately!!!!! If not, you'll get flamed here until your coil blows out!!!! Then you'll get a huge collective "I TOLD YA SO!!!!"

Bosch plugs run a different resistance than NGK's, it's enough of a difference that it can cause your coil to overheat and burnout. I've personally seen it happen more than once to the same car and heard of it happening a few times on here.
Your '92 may have had a different type of coil than the more recent ones. Also, with your current setup, I'd expect a stand alone ignition.

should i get NGK iridium? im going to change them out tonight. lol

Iridiums are good, but if you plan to use a capacitive discharge ignition, the small point electrodes will get fried off. Other than that, NGK Iridiums are a great plug. For an MSD ignition or similar, I'd look at Champion, ZEX, or NGK platinum. Platinum is no good for nitrous though.

I do have the stand-alone. Also my old engine was the "performance" F22A6 for the 90-93 models, so it had a larger external coil vs. the standard internal coil.

sure .... I have the Denso's! Never had a problem, but as I near 90k I'm going to change to NGK's. A little more expensive and a little better (per ratings anyway, my personal testing shows the same spark).

autozone over here didnt have the densos in stock... only had 1 spark plug LOL....
i picked up the champion autolite double platinum.... and so far.... WAYYYYY BETTER than the bosh i used to have in there.
i noticed WAYYY better performance, faster and smother acceleration, and the shaking while on a high geer at low speeds went away, unless im near like 900rpm on 3rd gear lol (did it just to test it)
only thing is that my MPG is probably going to decrease dramatically.. due to the urge to punch it more often LOL.... i really have to stop that .... haha..
Thanks for the advice on getting the boshes out....
