I looked, but I didn't see the article?  I did look around some though.  I was pretty amused by this one: http://www.mirror.co.uk/news/topstories/2008/01/09/boozing-is-good-for-you-89520-20279278/

I would never vote for hilary clinton either, for a couple of reasons:
#1) shes married to an ex-president. We need to stop all these family dynasties in office. the reason we elect a new president every 4/8 years is to get someone FRESH in office. I dont want hilary carrying out something bill never had time to do.
#2) trying not to be sexist here, but genetically speaking women tend to let their emotions rule over their decisions more than men. Now I have no problem having a woman in office, but before I vote for her I want to know she isn't going to let her emotions run the show AND shes not going to expect any special treatment. (like most women are accustomed to getting) I just get the feeling from hilary that she isn't entirely capable of either.

Thanks but what is a Primary FOR, what is it supposed to DO ? Is it an election about who should stand in a real election ?
Forgive my ignorance but I think the weakness in the system is that you end up with a politician as Head of State and, as we all know, they are the most honest and competent people on the planet.

Bit more breaking news. A new law has just past parliament - a new driving offence "Causing death by dangerous driving" dangerous driving including use of mobile phone, drinking, speeding, doing your make-up, get the picture ? 5 years in the nick. So this offence is sort-of the same as man slaughter. About bloody time on mobile phones and drunks. i would rate drink or drugged driving on a par with premeditated murder.

the democratic and republican parties dont want their votes spread across multiple canditates. They hold primary elections to decide who from each party will be representing that party as a presidential candiate. If your not choosen from the primaries, you can always run as an independent, you just dont have any party backing. which imo wouldnt be a bad thing.

The whole concept of an electorial college is retarded.  In the states, the REAL election doesn't pick the president.  The REAL election determines which party the electorial college represents for that state, which should vote in the expected manner.  They don't have to though.  The number of electorial votes for a state is equal to the number of representatives and senetors that state has in Washington DC.  This way, there is an easy way for our election to be corrupted in case they can't get the job done in the public election like Dubyah's brother did in Florida.  Gotta love our version of democracy!!!!

Oh .... and about the woman in office thing.  I'd be scared $h!+less if a woman had the power to launch our nuclear arsenal!  25% of the time they don't think straight!!!

they always do though. that last time even 1 electoral college person picked someone other than the person they were represented to pick was back in the 50s or something.

Just thought i would cheer you up with one of today's headlines :
"US warns Iran : Next time we will sink boats." National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley insisted any more aggression would result in shots being fired.

Iran's intent is to provoke a US action so that they can claim to have been attacked by you. Dont fall for it !
Inside the paper one of the columnists notes the smugness of the Democrats. Because Hillary Clinton is a woman and Barack Obama is black, they are convinced that they offer a radical alternative to Bush's macho politics. Yet who was the calculating brain behind Bush ? Who is both black and female ?
Fill in your own answer.

Beautiful area. I note there is no mention of the fog that covers the moors so heavily even the locals become disoriented. Not the best picture for tourism I suppose.

Can you remember the movie "American Werewolf in London", remember the pub on the moor "The Slaughtered Lamb" and the fog. The real name is The Tan Hill Inn [try Google Earth - feed in Yorkshire dales and then tan Hill ] The pub sign made for the movie is displayed behind the bar. I have had many brilliant nights in there [bikers hang-out]. it is also on the Coast-to-Coast cycle route - very popular

Looks georgous!!!   As for Dubyah, I'd say that he thinks all of the time, just that his thought process doesn't go much farther than a monkey's.  What he can think through are ways to screw the american public to make himself, his family and his cohorts more money .... for the record, I voted against him.

Anyway, dont be a wimp. Fog is good for the complexion and keeps the moor green. if you do Google, there are two more film sets to find in that area. Both from Robin hood, prince of thieves [ Kevin Costner, snigger] First - remember the fight scene with Little John in the river - google to Aysgarth Falls. Second - remember Maid marion catching Robin in the nude having a bath near a water fall - google to Hardraw. No prize on offer for finding them, just the satisfaction of being a movie nerd.

Wimp? Ha, that's rich. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the Brits bundled up and shivering while I went about being a tourist in my shorts and T-shirt wondering if anemia had overtaken the country.

I kid of course and I really did enjoy England. The people everywhere were friendly and went out of their way to help when asked. Barnsdale Country Club near Oakham had the most beautiful grounds and lodging. The village of Oakham was more quaint than anything I could have imagined. Windsor Castle, although seen from a distance, was amazing to behold. If anyone here has a chance to go to the UK don't pass it up.

That's why I have never really been too interested in voting.  The only reason I would do it now is to please the company CEO (big into politics) or to be called for Jury duty and get some time off work.  I think jury duty would be kind of cool.

And don't even get me started on a woman president.  that is exactly the reason I bet she won't wind up on the democratic ballot.  because there are too many old school democrat males who wouldn't vote for her simply because she is a woman.
Oh well, at least she is old enough that she has hopefully already been through menopause so we won't have to worry about PMS rages while she is in office with her finger on the nuke button.  But then again, if she is currently going through menopause, she will act like even more of a crazed lunatic because of all the hormone changes.  i wonder if they would give her time off for that?

I've been called for jury duty about 6 times now... Never had to show up it was always settled first but I'm fairly certain if I did have to show and they interviewed me I'd be dismissed unless they wanted a prior military gun toting legalistic young male, but chances are I'm not going to help anyones case... *L*

haha!  The good thing about that is, the county I live in is full of gun toting, conservative males so I guess I would have a 50/50 shot at being cut or chosen.  I'm sure my insurance background would terrify all plaintiff attorneys though so i'd probably be outed because of that.

Only did jury duty once. The case was some young scum-bags who had broken into a shop. I wanted them to be transported to Australia but I was told that we didn't do that anymore. Shame !

Britain used the Australian colony as a penal establishment in the early days. people were sent there for such "crimes" as basically being poor and stealing sheep to feed their families. Since we discovered the place [Captain Cook] is seemed only fair. Do you know how the kangeroo got it's name ? When the Royal Navy ships first landed, they saw this weird creature hopping all over the place. They asked an aboriginal [native Australian] what it was. He replied Kangeroo which translates to "buggered if I know, mate." This may be a true story.
