Hi Guys!. I'm IT Director in Mexico for an USA company. In december 2005 i Buy my first Honda car. Unfortunately, i follow recomendation from a friend and buy the 2.4L EX with leather, but now I'm frustrating because I like power and speed so i believe i made a mistake. Now, after 7 months with my new Honda, I'm thinking if I can improve performance in my car, this is why I register into this forum. Thanks a lot.

Hi Alexis...

Happy to have you with us in the forums...I checked out your employer and I saw a good web-site for computers..only problem I could see is that my spanish isn't very good, but the pictures were just fine

Thanks for joining and for your first lesson: go to the exhaust, header forum and start with those mods..1st bit of extrapower can be judged in there..

welcome, I'm the the IT field myself...

as far as power goes, you've got some options out there. If you're looking for simple bolt on power you can go with an air intake and a full exhaust system. That will give you some extra power. Now if you're looking at blowing the doors off other cars you can go with forced induction. It could be pricey, but the power gains are unmatched.

Think about your what you want to do (what you want to spend, how much power you want) with it and then come here and get all the advice/help you need.

Hi my friend. I'm very happy when I see your message. The webpage you visit is not from my employeer, this is my personal webpage I just start some time ago (I don't had time to finish it) for my weekend consulting in servers, security and networks.

I will follow your recommendations and will read now the forums to check how I can improve the power in my accord. I really love my accord but I love speed (I'm even asking me if i need to buy an sport car or a Kawasaki Ninja 1000 motorcycle). But if I can improve power in my 2.4 accord, this will be enough for the next 2 years.

Thanks and have a nice day!

mbo has a turbo in his accord. you can put on in your car too if you want. but if you dont want to spend that much money then you can go for something cheaper like an intake.

It sure is possible to turbo it. To answer a few questions that probably come to mind:

You can piece together your own kit for less $$ (less than most turbo kits anyways) but you'll need to do some homework.

It will make your lazy 4 banger a V8 Killer.

It is totally safe to do on a stock engine as long as you keep the boost under 9 psi or so.

So if you have the money to spend (I spent about $200 a month buying each piece seperately for my own turbo kit so I didn't need to spend all the money at once) I would say it is definetly worh the money. You can get extra power from the intake, exhaust route, but if you want a fast car, turbo is for you.

Thanks for all replies guys.... I see..... I see.... I have a couple of questions:

What is more fastest: a 2.4L iVtec with turbo or the original 3.0 244 HP V6 coupe?

How many money (in total) i need to spend in to buy all turbo parts?

I believe turbo will void the warranty... right?

How I can leave the turbo at 9psi (and what is that?).

Sorry for send too much questions!

regards...

I like my accord at night without traffic.... smooth!!!.... i like it... I maybe only buy honda cars in the future... I'm even thinking on buying a Pilot 2006 (this is 3.5L, i don't know if the pilot is fastest than the accord).

regards!

you could easily make 244 hp with less than 9 psi (psi is the pressure in pounds per square inch. this pressure means more power since it is forcing more air into the motor at a pressure higher than the regular air pressure around us. More psi generally means more power). You probably make closer to 250 - 260 with a good well tuned set up. And you'd be lighter then the v6 which is a good thing.

of course I'm a fan of the 4 bangers. I've just never been crazy about bigger engines in a front wheel drive car.

turbo will void the warranty. however, honda motors are great engines to turbo and hold up fine if tuned properly (a good air fuel mix is key). I turbo'd at 140,000 miles on my motor and it runs awesome. It's never noticably low on oil and compression is excellent. Of course I take care of it and use Mobil 1 at every oil change, blah blah. If you do your homework (or buy a pre-made turbo kit and have it installed correctly) your engine will last a very long time turbo'd.

There's a post called turbo help in the nitrous and forced induction area, among other great posts, that has a pretty detailed list of things I used in my turbo kit. It's a good place to start. You may have to look a ways back or search it, but it will answer many questions. Keep in mind it's a big project that you must take step by step. There are plenty of great web sites out there that can help. home made turbo is a great place to start. I spent under $2000 for my kit. It was about $1500 for everything.

And without getting too techinical (I'll leave the homework for you ) the boost pressure (psi) is set by the wastegate. The wastegate says how much boost the turbo can put in the engine. If it is set for 9 psi, then that is all the turbo will put in the engine. It's more complex than that, but that's the idea.

stock to stock I think most accords out there could whip the pilot. The pilot is meant for some decent towing and utility so it's not the best speed machine. A great vehical though.

I believe I only will make small modifications to the Accord. Intake and Exhaust, maybe cables.... a little improvement will be ok.... If i can gain 10 or 15 hp this would be fantastic because the accord ivtec 2006 comes with 166 hp stock. I will buy a turbo car in the future.... anyway, thanks very much!
