this may not be the best place to p[ost this but i am making payments on an 04 accord 2.4 i4, and i saw a deal at the same dealership on the same exact car only this is a v6 sohc/ ulev 3.0. i want a v6 , i mean the mpgs are not a big diff. city for the 4 is 24, and the v6 is21. i really want to do it, but i wanted to get some thoughts on it from all of you. and what does ulev stand for, and what is the advantage of dohc, to the v6 sohc? please give any and all opinions. i just want to go there tommorrow and just trade up i mean 160 hp to 240,OOOHHH I WANT THE POWER SOOOOO BAAAD!

ULEV = ultra low emission vehicle. you already answered your question, get the V6 if you want more power.

why would you say keep the 4 cyl? are the 04/ v6 transmisssions the ones that are not reliable?please elaborate.

youre thinking of the 6th gen auto trannys. 7th gens both are fine, pick one with more power if that's what you desire.

The 2003 and 2004 auto transmissions were problematic with the V-6. Supposedly it has been rectified in the newer models......?

I've got the '04 V6 and I love it....It's my first Honda, but not the first one I've driven. I dont think ill ever go back to domestics....If I could though I would have gotten the 6sp just for the fun of ripping gears...and after my warranty is up a TURBO, and motor work...anyway, my car still had factory powertrain warranty on it when I bought it. I guess its certified used. see if the one ur looking at is certified and if so drive the wheels off that Biatch and get it fixed under warranty

Yeah....that is true.....but with the 6 you are so far ahead of the 4....
For instance...7th gen
i4: 166 HP, 160 ft-lbs torque
V6: 244 HP, 211 ft-lbs torque
You have a margain of 78 horses to just break even with the 6...and aftermarket mods love the 6 cylinder engines. A simple SRI on the 4 banger causes an increase of 1-3 HP....but on the 6, the same modification raises the HP by 5-8.
Let's say the 6 and the 4 had the traditional I/H/E setup.
i4: 166 + 3 + 4 + 4 = 177 HP (not even close to the 244)
V6: 244 + 6 + 6 + 5 = 271 HP
That's almost 100 horses difference. The only way to beat this 6 is basically a 20m race...since the 4 is a lot peppier and picks up like a snap (if the V^ is auto). If the V6 is 6 speed....gg.

:-/
But Honda's 4 bangers are legendary. So, in a sense, we are in that elite class.
