I'm just wondering how this works since they're not setup with your usual pull out factory junk head unit. Do you mount it in the storage area under the stocker & a/c controls?

You have two options...You can get a install kit and take out the factory screen and replace it with a head unit..The kit gives you a few AC controls and what not...Heres an example of someone whos done it. I just can't find the link to get the kit.
Here Or you can replace the storage bin underneath with the use of this kit

There is a huge price difference in the kits.....i work at best buy and customers always are in awe when we tell them how much. The kit that replaces the factory screen and everything is around $200, but the kit that replaces the pocket is around $20. Again, this is how much best buy sells them for, i dont know if there are any other places where you can get them cheaper, but i do know we have to special order them from scoche.

When you keep the factory unit at top and install with the cheaper kit, what happens to the unit at top. Is it just there for visual or does it still serve a purpose. I assume the AC controls and all that would still work, but does the volume and the other audio options work still or is it obsolete?

I'm gonna throw this option in too, I haven't seen it in a hond, but I have seen it in a F-150. Take the whole head unit out and replace it with a touch screen roughly the size of the area and fill the rest in as necessary, small to keep/rearrange the a/c controls if necessary, kinda like the more expensie kit, but if possilbe, make a touch screen control that could control a/c...I dont' know the a/c part, just making that up, but the setup i've seen in an F-150 and want to know if anyone has any experience in anything like this, price qutoes, or thoughts on it in general. Peace.

Just another quick question, if you use the 20$ kit, and install an aftermarket radio, do the displays for the a/c etc, still work on the original stock display? and also do all the rest of the heat/fan buttons still work? I am assuming yes, but i just want to be sure.

So I know I made the crazy suggestion earlier, but I found a stereo by oris (I think) that's double DIN size and can take over a/c controls with touchscreen and everything. Anyway, I know about the expensive kit you're talking about and it allows for DIN sized stereo, but is there a kit that will allow for double DIN or has anyone heard of some custom fabrication that will the double DIN size (for DVD purposes of course). I am just wondering how hard/expensive this custom fabrication would be, I don't do vehicle surgery

ALSO, since I'm asking stupid questions....The more expensive kit that was being talked about from Bestbuy, I heard that it WON'T work if you have a six-disc changer because it communitcates differently. The website says there is a plug-in for converting the dual climate controls to a single climate control, but it won't work because of a six-disc changer, any help/experience on this would be appreciated...please don't mind the idiocy of all this, I'm really making this stuff up on the fly.
