I have a facebook, deleted my myspace ages ago. It's great if you use it for what it was intended for: staying in touch with people who are at different schools. I don't have (much) of that frilly crap everyone puts on theirs.

I have both.  And mine has no added frilly crap.  i use it solely to stay in touch with people I live far away from.  Plus it is good to catch up with people you haven't seen in years if they are members.  I don't think it is overated.  being 25 now, I have lost touch with many many people I was friends with in high school as well as some in college (I graduated 3 years ago)

I live in vegas and grew up in chicago, 1700 miles away from family and friends
 
That being said there are two kinds of people who use myspace, children and child molesters

Its my opinoin. That is all its all drama if ur not married. or should i say everything about those two sites are drama even if u are married.

I haven't logged onto my myspace acct in nearly 2 years now.  I keep in touch with friends via aim and email.  I do kind of feel i'm out of the loop b/c some people announce events in their lives only on their myspace blogs oh well.  I'm kind of glad I don't go on my acct anymore b/c I might get beat up by high school cheer leaders 

I agree with everyone in that it's overrated and has just become a marketing/molesting tool, but I really only use it to keep in touch with people. My profile pic is of my totaled Accord, not me taking pictures of myself in the mirror lol.

I dont like MYspace at all. It's ridiculous and annoying. The bathroom pictures are stupid, and there's no reason for 12 yr olds to post pics of themselves online.
Facebook on the other hand is much more useful for me. I'm in college and it keeps me informed on events, gatherings, groups I'm apart of and of course to keep in touch with friends and family. I actually got back in touch with friends that moved away when I was in 2nd grade thru Facebook and hung out with them when they came to New York. But Facebook is getting kind of annoying bc of all the applications and games there putting on now. The developers of the apps actually get paid pretty good so theres gonna be a lot more applications.

thats why i said in the begining that its overated only because of the new shi*t they keep adding to both websites...like there trying to compete or w.e... its just another site to get peds eyes on the youngins like 10-15 who look like 20 yr olds. ::puts on mommys makeup, high heal shoes, short milf  skirts ETC.."

However I dont use Facebook b/c all people do is send you stupid requests to add this application or go on the Orgeon Trial.  Absolutely stupid.
 
I always check my MySpace though.  I have some sweet things on there but no mirror potraits.  Almost all my pics are of me and the gf.  I think if you think all thats on MySpace are 12 year olds and child molestors is because all you add/accept friend requests are 12 year olds and molestors.  Looks like its your fault.
 
Set your privacy to friends only.  And only add who you know.  Its not very hard at all to keep control over your account.

well said well done ? pure opinion you got there buddy , like most of us said already, its a way to KIT (keep in touch) , with friends and family you dont see often, ie ppl in the military or live across the country or diffrent states, whatever.  dont stereotype. i didnt post this to put you or anyone down, but this thread is useless IMO..

only reason why i started this post was because i had myspace for 5 yrs.. Out of these 5 yrs i met about 300+ girls from diff states when i went on vacation and such .. yea sounds lame but i had to do what i had to do with my boys ... lol.. anyway being a "myspace wh*re*" which i was with over 100,000+ comments and over 80+ on pic comments it just got ridiculous and more fake myspaces were coming out with dudes trying to mock me.. i didnt mind the girls coming on me asking me to meet up.. but one thing great about myspace or facebook if ur looking for a chick and you dont want to be looking for them at a bar or a party then go for these two sites... my gf i have now for a yr already where did i find her? MYSPACEEEEE . :) lol
 
Anyway... i just got sick of these sites with all the b*llsh*t they kept adding and DRAMA this sh*t causes.

I guess you must not be old enough to appreciate the awesomeness of Oregon Trail.  when i was in elementary school all we had were those sorry Apple IIE computers and the only game we had that was worth anything was Oregon Trail.  Playing it is kind of like bringing up old memories from elementary school.  My wife was addicted to it for a while.  Now I call it "Heroin Trail."

I have no problems with either site and I have accounts on both.  My sister made me do Myspace and I actually use it a lot.  I only got on FB after the Virginia Tech shooting because I found out that it was being used for people to get in touch via the "I'm ok at Virginia Tech" group.  I hardly log onto FB.  MS does get annoying if you have friends that are really spam-bots.  I keep my profile public and I do accept people that I don't know, but if I don't hear from them for a while or their posts are ads or other BS, they're gone immediately!  That said, I have friends across the country that I keep in touch with ...... about 30 or so.

I primarily use FB.  I get tired of all the crazy myspace pages that take forever to load.  Then on half of them you can't even read any words because the moron who set their page up made the background the same color as the text.
I like how everybody's page on FB is relatively the same so you can easily see what you want to see on their profile and not have to search around for half an hour for something that may not even be on the page.  I also think FB has far better stuff on there to search around.  I check FB at least once a day.
