Hello guys and gals,

My name is Bucky and my current project is my 13y/o cousins 1990ish Honda Accord 2dr with F22A engine with auto tranny. We compete at our local 1/4 mile asphalt oval in a "stock" 4cly divison... We have gutted everything but the wires on this cae, Lowered and added negitive camber, removed all belts and accesories off the engine (ac ps and alt), condensers, lines, and added some offset wheels...I was just wondering if there were any tips or tricks out there and could help us out like ecu swaps or flashes... Here are a few pics

Wow, I've never seen this kind of thing done before. Performance-wise free up some flow on the intake and exhaust side of things. ECU chipping for the F22 engine with auto tranny is not well supported out there and the gains would be very minimal, not to mention expensive to do. You could do a B1 head swap on it to get VTEC... someone else will chime in.

I was told by a buddy of mine to swap to an H22 so i can have DOHC... but is there the B series head is that compatible for a 2.2? is so do i use a 1.6 or 1.8? i know minimal about Hondas... we have already cut the exhaust and taken off the air box... and it does already have a stock 4-2-1 header thats pretty swank! Pic kida blurry tho

Could swap to an H23 head. I'd convert it to manual.

You say you know minimal about Hondas...  The H-series is the DOHC that's kinda compatible with the Accord's engine.  Not the B-series.

Are there any rules from the 'sanctioning body' of the races?  An H-series engine wasn't available 'stock' in USA, but I guess it was in Europe or Japan at various times.

If you can swap heads to change the engine into something that wasn't available 'stock', then maybe you can shoehorn a Legend V-6 in the car (or a smallblock chevy)?

That would be my big question.... what is the requirements/rules regarding modifications, can you chop the exhaust or anything?

One thing that will make a big difference is tire pressure/size if you can use different size tires... if not then get a pyrometer and start checking tire temps and adjust.... keep in mind that 1/2 lb of pressure can make a big difference...

well the only real rules are no liter upgrades, only 4cly, no turbo, sc, or awd.

So I guess you could swap it with an H22 if you wanted, or swap on an H22 head.  but both of those will require some pretty extensive mechanical knowledge.  if I were you...I would do as blk said and convert to manual if you think you may be able to DIY it.
I assume nitrous is not allowed?

Nice! Speaking of which, we need to revive the HAF sticker idea. We MUST be better than 6GA!! You said this was an oval track, right? I would keep the auto tranny if it is, it has longer gearing than the manual, meaning faster top speed.
