I have an'02 Accord EX, and today i just went to a specialty car audio store to look for a new sound system. I still have all stock parts. I have no idea what brand I want or what I need. Basically, the guy gave me a deal for $1,300 out the door and full installation. I can't read the guy's writing but I remember it was a Pioneer/Premier head unit with JL speakers and subs. He told me that i wouldn't need an amplifier, since the sound quality was good enough for my small car. Do you guys think this is a good deal? And what advice do you guys have for a noobie on what brands to go with and set-ups.
Thanks for the comments.

Go to somewhere's like Best Buy and have them give you a estimate for the same style of equipment and then compare the both ...

Your local car audio shop will be a better place to go than a big box. The installers will be better and they will have better gear (usually).
$1300 could be a good deal if he's using higher end JL stuff like W6's and XR series speakers. Also, if he's building you a custom box then yes, that would be a good deal.

I misread your post...i see you were quoted a sub...doh!
Did he only quote you for 1 pair of speakers?
Honestly, if you're going this far, get a 4 or 5 channel amp and be able to drive the midrange speakers too. Will sound a lot better, unless you just want thump...
