HPF and LPF are low pass filter and high pass filter, respectively. LPF switches the crossover to filter out sounds above a set frequency, which is used for a sub. HPF filters out sounds below a set frequency, which is used for speakers if you don't want any bass on your speakers. I have my speakers crossed at 80hz but Macleod may have a better suggestion for you. I just crossed my subs and speakers at that same frequency assuming thats the best thing to do.
EDIT: And the off position doesn't filter any frequencies out.

I've installed Polk 5.25" shallow mounts in the doors of my last gf's 6th gen sedan. They fit the stock 6.5" mounts fine. All I had to do was cut the back of the basket off with a hacksaw, then ground it clean on my table grinder .... a dremmel would've been easier, but still, 5 minutes?!?
Bah!
I can't seem to win!
I did that too, and cut alot more then that to get my stupid Lightning Audio 6 1/2's in there.
I guess when I put these in ill have to see how much those mounts are or how much the adapters are. Nothing is easy to do anymore!!!!
Trust me, I know the PITA that it is to get 6.5"'s in there. My Accord had 6.5" MB Quartz components. Basically, I gutted the OEM basket down to just the front ring and black silicone caulked the woofers to them. They fit back in perfectly, but the 6.5's put out too much bass to not remove the plastic liner ..... I never got around to replacing them with dynamat, so I ran them with the bass turned way down from the amp.

Hmm, I shall check into the amp more.
Falkore, I did the same too! I cant remember though, if I dont use the oem basket, I think the window wont close, right?
Stupid Honda and their thin doors!
I dont think I stuck the plastic liner back up very well b/c my car is soooo loud when it is windy. I plan on using the Scosche sound deadner to cover up those areas.

stay away from speakers on ebay. just go to best buy or circuit city.besides they have demo's so you can listen to the quality of them, and i say get pioneer. there the best in my opinion,i had alpine's and i had pioneers and the pioneers destroyed the alpines but in my opinion alpine's are just names unless you buying the type R's or the amps, other then that alpine is whack.

Yes! Go to best buy so they can make %500 profit! Don't you just love huge corporations where the CEOs make 100,000 times more than the employees that do the actual work.

IMO Best Buy and CC are complete rip offs. Buuut, if CC's begin to close then they should have some good deals!
I got all but on speaker installed tonight with some Scosche sound deadner!
Took me awhile b/c I had to solder the terminals back on the oem wiring (my old 6x9's had push type terminals) and I messed up the oem brackets for the front doors when I tried putting in the Lightning Audio 6.5's.
Well I am glad you say the blue pioneers are good! I have seen quite a few good reviews on those and the other ones I bought.

Bad Pics I know.
The seat covers will be gone shortly.
Whatcha think?!
One more question, everyone keeps saying that you hear music from the front speakers the most. However, it ALWAYS seems to be coming from the rears. When I turn the fade to fronts only they seem so much more quiet then the rears. Is it just b/c they are lower and dont have an auditorium shaped window above them? Should I put it so the fade should be +3 in the front out of a possible +10 to even it out?
And how long I should let them "break in"?

Best Buy yuck. Circuit City even yuckier. Do you know how ridiculous it is to charge $36 for a 3 ft. firewire cable? I broke down and bought my alarm system at Ultimate Electronics because I had a $20 gift card to burn and saved $90 doing the install myself.
Also, their little sound demo station are a bunch of BS. The waves bouncing around a 50k square foot store are not going to sound the same as they would in the tiny enclosed space as a car. Simplest way to find out if a speaker is going to sound good is it's size, cone material and it's sensitivity.
Don't diss Alpine, there's a reason that you see their name in a lot of places. IMO they have the most ergonomic user interface and great sound quality.
Lastly, I half agree staying away from eBay is a smart thing to do, but if you do your research and have a little common sense in your noggin it's easy to avoid the scandals. If you don't trust eBay find a cheap *manufacturer approved* online reseller. Most manufacturers will void your warranty if you don't buy from their listed of resellers. Best Buy is where stupid, ignorant people shop. It's always fun when the salespeople are trying to sell you a product by vomiting jargon at you and then you and you know more than they do.

Got em all in and they sound GREAT!
I am VERY HAPPY!
They also seem much more balanced then the old speakers in terms of fade and balance.

To answer you're fader question, I've heard and read that you should fade it so that it sounds like the voices and instruments sound like they're coming from the dashboard, like a stage. I currently have mine faded at +2/10 sometimes +3. With bass coming from the back of the car and everything else in the front, it sounds goofy IMO. I'm more of a fan of the "surround sound" idea.

You mean the stock cover for the front door panel im assuming?
If its like the 5th gens, you have to take the whole door panel off.
