Are we talking quarter miles and 0-60's? My money would be on the prelude.

OK according to www.autos.MSN.com

1997 Prelude 195HP 2954lbs = 15.14lbs/hp *auto manual would be slightly heaver at 3009lbs

1998 accord LX- V6 200HP 3197 lbs =15.98lbs/hp *auto

If you are racing each other and the guy in the prelude has a stick MOST cases the auto accord will win becuase very few people know how to shift or launch a stick properly. The auto trans will shift the same every time and the only factor will be RT of driver.

auto prelude would be slightly slower since it is slightly less HP than a manual

Dude, being a smart *BUtt* is not going to win you any friends

The numbers speak for themselves. If you don't believe it, why not go race an accord? I hate it when people ask a question and do not believe the answer

I have a V6 accord and they are not slow (read the sig) and I could most likely take you in a race since I KNOW how to launch an auto.

Don't even think you can take a 7th gen V6 because they will lay waste to your car..........

15.49 = 1997 Prelude SH manual 1/4 mile time.
7.02 = 1997 Prelude 0 - 60. (Keep in mind these are for a 5-speed tranny)

15.76 = 1998 Accord V6 3.0 L Coupe 1/4 mile time.
7.28 = 1998 Accord V6 3.0 L Coupe 0 - 60 time.
(16.32 and 8.03 , respectively for the sedan)

These times are based off MSN autos.

Provided you can shift the 5 speed right, prelude is faster, stock to stock.

yeah but keep in mind that stock V6 accords don't have 200 hp, sad to say its lower go to www.comptechusa.com and go to dyno sheets or something like that. i hope their numbers are wrong but i doubt it.

Their dyno sheets show WHP and it's 200 at the crank and about 158 at the wheels

you can bet it will be a good race fo sho. it would be an amazing race if they both had shorty intakes on them

I think it would be all about the launch. The V6 has got the lude' beat on the torque, so if the lude' isn't launched right, it probably won't catch up.

Didn't it show 180 something for WHP

well, that V6 accord has a lot of power. I own a V6 and I must say that it can keep up with most cars out there, and mine is stock. I think that a prelude VS. the honda whould be a kickBUTT race. I would put my money on the honda.
