i just picked up an 03 accord coupe. i have a pioneer deh-9800bt want to put in. are there any features integrated into the stock deck that i will lose if i replace it? anyone know how easy it is to do or have a tutorial? im nervous about workin on a new car. they integrate so much technical crap in the dash these days

I have been looking to do the same thing for my car, if you buy a radio from crutchfield they will supply you with instructions on how to remove the factory deck. Although you will lose some functionality like the stering wheel remote and if you have dual zone climate control, it will make it single zone.

if your willing to pay the ca$h scoshe makes modules that will maintain most of the factory stuff like steering wheel controls

really? where can i find one of those units? ill pay whatever, i just dont wanna lose the dual zone climate control or any safety features. i dont really care about steering wheel remote, but if itll work, wonderful. i google it and couldnt find anything. cruthfields unit only has 1 zone climate control...

are u sure it will include dual zone climate control? the more i read, the more im finding people who just had to mount a deck in the center console. its not lookin to good

It would be nice if they would make a solid double din kit.

before they made a kit for that car we put after market radios where that pocket is, but i dont remember if the dual zone stayed intact, but i also dont see why it wouldnt
http://www.installer.com/item/display_item.php?it=99-7862
this is an example of what we used
ok, but that doesnt include any climate control. isnt the climate control and radio 1 unit? and the display for the climate control is on the screen for the stock radio. so i just dont see removing the stock unit as an option.
my accord does have a pocket in the console thats pretty decent sized. and thats where i been seeing aftermarket units installed. looks like thats what i gotta do. anyone done that b4?

quick question, any reason you wanna put that radio in (subs, ipod control, etc.)?

ive also been doing a little research and if honda makes a factory cd/mp3 player that can be added where that pocket is and connected to the in dash with a bus cable, then maybe there is a cable you can hook your pioneer through... no luck finding one yet, and i also have a few more ideas, but im gonna consult with some installer buddies i have to make sure there not too outrageous

all the above. im quite the audiophile. i have a pioneer 9800bt head unit that interfaces with my 30gig ipod. mb quart premium components all around running off an orion 500.4 and 2 L7's running off a usamps merlin md2. i just cant take crappy stock radios, they sound like shit.

speaking of which, im trying to figure something out for a sub box. i need between 2.5-3 cubes per sub, and i want it tuned around 38hz. i want it open to the back seats. the only thing i can think of now is glassin 2 boxes into the corners of the trunk, but thats a project and a half that i just dont have the time for. i dunno if theres some way i can fit a wood box in...

There is no dual climate control kit, the only ones that exsit convert the dual to single zone. If you want to keep your dual cliamte control you need to go with
this kit.

okay so ive been pondering your situation and one day deep in thought i consulted the opinion of a fellow installer. he used to do a lot of custom stuff in alot of famous peoples cars. he suggested something another installer discovered not too long ago, be forewarned ive had no time to research this but it should work. there is supposedly a way to convert one of the disk into an auxilary. which means you could install a aftermarket stereo in the pocket and run power to it from the fuse box and battery, and also run it to the auxilary in the factory radio. basically giving you two stereos in the car. it may be expensive and you may wanna talk to another professional. but if you truly want the radio and the dual zone i think this may be the only option.

you have to make a visit to your local dealership for your code unless its in your owners manual
