Ok.. so i have a F22 in my accord.. and i've been told that its not a v-tec... but once i hit 5 grand.. it seems like it is a v-tec...

so is it possible that a F22 is a v-tec..especially being a SOHC?

VTEC in Accords was not put in them for performance, it was put in them for better gas mileage.  You cannot feel it kick in at 5k because it doesn't kick in at 5k.  It kicks in anywhere from 2200+ RPM depending on engine load, but almost always before 5k.  if you have VTEC, the engine will say it in huge letters on the valve cover.

yeah u dont have vtec cuz i have the same exact engine in my car and its not.... but ur right i too notice a kick when it reaches around that area and from what i believe thats where a boost in the power curve is so thats why it prolly feels like a vtec boost or something...  hope it helps

F22 has a Vtec and NonVtec version. and its not Vtec because it never kicks in at 5K.

F22b1= v-tec.  And mine kicks in at 5200 rpms.  No other time.  On 87 octane, I can hear it, on 92 octane, I can actually feel it.

F22B2 is SOHC VTEC
F22B2 is non-VTEC

Yes, anyone can change a valve cover, but I doubt they can swap it. The differences in valve covers from the B1 and B2 are huge.
