I have a 1999 Honda Accord LX VTEC with a 5-speed trans. it has 123,000 on the odometer. should the trans make any noises like when im at an idle i hear this sound and when i push in on the clutch the noise stops. is this normal for this many miles. i changed my trans fluid about 2,000 miles ago

It sounds like you just have a noisy clutch release bearing. It is not serious. My girlfriends 89 Prelude has one. It has 250k on it and has its third clutch. As long as you have no problems shifting thenjust replace it when you get your next clutch.

Yes that sounds like the good answer that 7th gen has for you, I believe he is right on there.

He guys. Thanks a lot for the information that makes me feel a lot better because i originally thought i might have chipped one of the teeth one the gear (I learned clutch in this car w/ the original clutch). Now as you said if it shifts smooth, it shifts smooth from first until fifth, like butter, and the same when i downshift from fifth to fourth, like butter, but it is very stiff going back into first, but it does not clank when it goes in.

Sometimes higher mileage Hondas seem to dislike going into first unless completely stopped. My girlfriends Prelude and my 93 Civic both do that.
