On a 95 accord 2.2ltr, have a problem of the engine loosing coolant slowly. About a half gallon every week or so. No aparent leaks.

Is anyone aware of any common issues like this with this engine? Any issues with heads cracking or head gaskets blowing?

I had a head gasket blow in my land cruiser and found out is is a common problem. I'm not that familiar with the accord issues.

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to the forum! A couple of things on this... 1. it's not a common issue for any honda that I know of to blow head gaskets. 2. Have you checked your freeze plugs? that's an easy way to loose coolant slowly and then it just burns off on the engine... but there will still be a residue of some sort that gives it away... Also, any white smoke when you're taking off? Have you checked your oil (prior to running the car for the day) to see if there is any water in it? Does everything else on the car function normally?

Not really any other signs that I know of. The car seems to run fine. I'll look at the freeze plugs when I get it up on a rack.

Do you know where all the freeze plugs are on this engine?

do the following

1. pull plugs and inspect them for signs of coolant.

2. do a pressure test when cold and make sure your system is holding at least 16lbs

3. Pressure test when hot.

Yeah, that white smoke is a tell tale sign of a head gasket gone bad. If you have white smoke after the car has warmed up, you'll definetly want to do a coolant pressure check and a cyl pressure / leak down test.
