SPAM

I signed up here yesterday, and got my first SPAM email today,

I went into my profile and unchecked, "  Allow others to send you e-mail? "

is this going to keep people from sending SPAM to me?

how about receiving legitimate emails from other members?

is there a way to receive emails from other users, without recieving SPAM from companies that are signed up here

to harvest email addresses for SPAM?

I would like to be able to receive legitimate emails from members, and somehow filter companies that are

abusing the email system.
