I just purchased a 2002 Honda Accord Ex V6 with 76000 miles and I LOVE this car!
However I did not read the reviews until after my purchase.
Well now 3 days into it the car was stuck in park and I finally got it out of park by pressing the shift lock release which it is still hard to shift.  Now this morning the battery is dead!!!!  The horn works, the brake lights work, I just don't get it???

Once you get it started have the battery tested, you might just need a new one. As for the transmission being ornery, I can't assist there.

Battery was bad. Replaced it and still have the problem.  Had alt. tested is was fine. Horn works and I have brake lights.  Is it the solenoid by the shift lever?  Does anyone know the part # and how to replace it? thanks in advance!!!

Yes, the solenoid is down by the shift lever.  First you need to figure out if the solenoid itself is bad or the circuit that drives the solenoid.

Could you explain how to check? thanks

I'm a little vague without a repair manual in front of me...  With a multi-meter you'll want to see if the solenoid is getting power.  If it IS, & still doesn't work, then the solenoid is bad.

Other possibilities...
Solenoid clicks (can you hear it?) but the little lever & latch is broken & doesn't release the shift lever.

Car's wiring is not sending power to operate the solenoid.  You'll want a wiring drawing for your car to tell you how & what to check.

A common problem is a bad switch down at the brake pedal, but that's OK because you said the brake lights work.

ps...
It just occurred to me that if the little lever & latch were broken, then you would NOT be able to release it with the key.
