Hi i figure while i was posting mind as well ask this too. Im about to buy a Tanabe Hyper Medallion cat back exhaust for my 1996 Ex sedan. Everything is stock as of now. Does anyone know if it will be a fairly easy install or should i have a shop do it. Im fairly capable in terms of using hand tools but have never done exhaust install. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Do you have a hoist? or cutting torch or pipe expander if you need it?
If not...you might need it..

haha no i do not have either. But i thought it was a direct bolt on fit. I could be wrong tho. Thanks for the advice!

Jack stands, a jack, WD40 (for frozen/hard-to-get-off bolts) are the main things - if your lucky.
If you have to have a shop weld anything for placement, hopefully it shouldn't be too much.
Other than that, all you should have to do is take off what is there, and reverse with the new stuff.
Most manufactures have enough directions (even for exhaust systems) that we can get by.

thanks alot for all your help. I'm probably gonna try to do it myself, if not, result in bringin it to the shop. If only this wasnt my daily driver than i could take my time with it but i need it so can't afford to have the car not working for a couple days. Thanks again.

As a tip, this is pretty ghetto but...worked for me: Reverse up a curb and use that as a jack. Cement works pretty well as a support
. Then make sure to drive off sidways so you don't hit your new muffler. That or use some boards or padding of some sort.
Also, make sure to spray down those bolts (especially on the cat) really good with some lubricant the day before and the day of. Good luck.

Get a breaker bar since those exhuast bolts are frozen tight from water and dirt. Plus WD40 like recommended.
If it is a bolt up kit, you should be fine. If it doesn't say it's a direct bolt up, there very well could be some cutting and welding in your future and in that case I'd leave it to a shop (unless you know a guy with a welder or something).
