Hello all,
Recently my tranny has been throwing itself into gear, causing the car to lurch and jump between shifts (1999 accord EX auto... 122k). I took it to a family friend mechanic, and he informed me that there is a lot of debris up against the filter screen but, due to this particular model, replacing the filter would be just as difficult as dropping the tranny and putting in a new one. Does this make any sense to anyone?
As for now, I am manually shifting (2-3-Auto) to avoid the dreadful jumps. It has even started grinding now with regular driving. Any suggestions?? Thanks for all of your help....

Oh lord...the deathly 6th gen A/T. I don''t know what to say man...you have to replace the tranny sooner or later. 122k sounds about right for the tranny to poop out. Talk to any 6th gen A/T guy on the forums and you''re hear the same story.

LOL @ FALK.. that''s hilarious...
Yes, unfortunately the Honda trannies do not have a replaceable filter. You''d literally have to overhaul the tranny to do so, which is not worth it on these cheap-o''s...
yeah, 6th gen trannies are known to go out due to this and other things.
