This summer, I think I'm going to give my accord a much needed body overhaul, I've almost got the drivetrain/chassis in perfect shape (except for that auto trans I'll be deleting from the engine bay) I'd be interested in putting a small turbo setup on as well, since I have to redo my exhaust system anyway.

My question is, What kind of fuel economy do you turbo guys get out of the accords on the highway at normal highway speeds (70-80mph) with cruise control on? I know around town it's going to hurt pretty bad blowing through gears and spooling the turbo.

I already did a turbo/FI conversion into my Mitsubishi Montero, and it actually helped the fuel economy having 33" tires and lift on stock gearing. I wonder if the same would apply to my accord if I turned that too, into a sleeper.

Thanks in advance,
Brendan.

If your blowing through gears look at 8mpg or less, if your running normal and the turbo isnt spooling up then, I would assume that it can be compared to normal driving minus 1 or 2 mpg. But the non spooled driving is a guess, the 8mpg is based on the 2.5L turbo volvo my parents have, it has a build in instantaneous mpg/average/ miles left, yada yada

OK that's what I figure. Once I get my company car.. I can do anything I want with my cars it should be fun, I may just end up repainting this beast, and putting a fresh auto trans in it, and giving it to my little sister for a first car

Yeah, I definetly notice a decrease in MPG. Doesn't help that I use the turbo a lot...
But normal crusing and not so heavy acceleration will give me near pre turbo gas milage. Getting myself off the gas pedal is the challenge...

a V E R Y small turbo can actualy help ur gas mileage... if its spooling at normal RPMs then u get a better A/F mixture and u burn a more even amount so u improve gas... if ur gunna run a huge evo turbo with 20 PSI of boost ur gas is going to die like a 150 year old dood playing football... and not any of that ghey little flag football i mean like XFL style!!! ;-P anyway... so go small get some boost get some horsies and have fun doing it...
