i believe any gsr 90 to 95

okay what parts could i use besides the turbo? any of the piping or intercoolers?
marbro

i think you would need modification on the piping, im not sure how different the front end and turbo manifold are.... and for the innercooler it depends on what size of pipe you plan on running.

- turbo
a great turbo to get is a second generation mitsubishi eclipse turbo/ T3-T4 garret/airresearch

-wastegate
turbonetics deltagate with a 7psi spring

-manifold
can be purchased or custom made at the shop. a simple log style manifold can work very well and is the cheapest. a tubular manifold is more efficient and costs a little more

-intercooler
can also be taken off a mits eclipse but a slightly larger front mount intercooler would work best.

-blow off valve
hks or other quality brand

-boost dependant FMU (fuel pressure regulator)
vortech FMU

-manifold pressure bleeder
synapse missing link

-high volume fuel pump
walbro 255lph

just get these parts and you will be set. the plumbing for the intake and exhaust can be done at a shop real cheap. turbo and manifold can be procured from a 2g or second generation eclipse. everything else you will want to buy separate.

Thanks for the info lightshow is there a place on the internet that sells some of the stuff that is a good sight or am i on my own to find stuff in junk yards?
lightshow

yeai would do ebay.....and junk yards. it depends on which manifold you want to use too. ill get back to you later after class.

Okay i'm going up to a few local salvage yards this weekend to poke around alittle bit and see what i can come up with. Is there anything else that i should keep my eyes peeled for while i'm there? I'll post back and tell you guys what i bring home, that is if i can find anything worth bringing home...

flomasta there's a junk yard called spaldings I believe in spokane that is HUGE and will find/ship you stuff from there... If you can't find it then call them you can get almost anything... I mean ACRES big...

http://www.spaldings.com/ <---- their site... but I'd probably just call them... they also give you ratins on the condition of the items you are looking for...

okay so i didn't find anything at all worth buying at the auto salvage yards, i guess i need to just stay on top of ebay to find what i'm looking for.

yeah, and sorry, it was suppose to be an eclipse gst or gsx both of which have a garret T25 turbo with internal wastegate. I just opted to buy my turbo on ebay for 265+shipping got a t3/04E..... I am having trouble finding a good cast iron manifold for around 300 bucks.... which is the cost i am aiming for.... I guess it just means i have to be willing to spend a bit more.

so if i find the intercooler and manifold i would be able to put any turbo on there or is there bolt pattern differance or are they all pretty much the same?

No, you need to make sure the turbo fits the manifold. There are a few different flanges out there, namely t3, t4, t25. There are plenty more, but the point is you need to makes sure they are the same flange or things won't line up.

The intercooler does not connect directly to the turbo, but through piping, so your main concern is manifold and dowpipe flanges.

manifold, turbo and downpipe flanges all need to connect and line up so is it easy to tell which ones will bolt up no problem, or are there numbers on them or do you just have to know?

There is a turbo header at www.f22parts.com for 500$ is this the kinda thing i need to be looking into?
marbro
3/22/2006 1:02:44 AM
Thats the one i am looking at, but I dont know if even that one will allow me to keep my a/c. Then you will have to look at if you need oil feed lines, I would assume most turbos have them but you never know. Then depending on the turbo depends if you need a 4 or 5 bolt down pipe. Ultimately you still have to verify if the bolt pattern of the turbo manifold will bolt up to your engine, example being me getting that f22 manifold and putting it on my f23

heres the thing.....having the manifold, turbo, and downpipe bolt up right out of the box is great. but then you are stuck with whatever placement they have chosen for you...which kinda diminishes the custom part of it to start with, and more importantly fitment issues like keeping the a/c, or your fans etc. all it takes to bolt ANY turbo to any header, is a flange..(within reason) so lets say you have a t3 manifold and some other turbo maybe one part has 5 bolts and the other has 4. just fit, mark and measure exactly where you want that turbo to be (and which direction) and just have a flange made at any muffler shop or machine shop. cause maybe you want to rotate the turbo just a little, because that tiny bit of clearance can make or break you having a/c. i wouldnt really worry too much about fitment.....just trying to get a turbo manifold for your car is hard enough.

isnt saying "i wouldnt worry about fitment" and saying "just trying to get a turbo manifold for your car is hard enough" sort of a contradiction? But I have a good idea of the size of that 500 dollar manifold, so i am going to get the placement as close as possible, and its not the downpipe im worried about, its the a/c line that runs right in front of my fans. I just dont want to deal with having to redirect that line lol.

3/22/2006 11:44:47 PM
Now that I think about it, after I saw that line is when I said "see you later" to my a/c...

hell, I never even used it.
marbro
3/23/2006 2:21:29 AM
I never use it either, but the thing is...... people sit in my car that complain about the windows being down..... *rolls eyes*
lightshow
3/23/2006 5:29:08 AM
the turbo will sit lower than that line. its the compressor that will get in the way. why im saying dont worry about the fitment, is because you want to be able to choose the location/direction of the turbo and then have a custom flange made.
flomasta
3/23/2006 11:16:53 PM
okay because i'd really like to keep my a/c. i don't use it to often but im preety sure it would help god forbid in the event that i would have to sell it.

now that it is finally warm here in kansas i have realized that my ac only blows as cold as the temp outside and i believe its out of freeon or the thermostat is stuck. if it's not one of those to than i'm not shellin out the big bucks to get it fixed so i guess i'll be rollin' with the windows down for a while anyways..... still looking around for parts and pieces of the system and have a question...
Since i payed so much money to get my cold air intake and now i'm looking to get a turbo set up is it posible to modify it to use with the turbo or should i just sell it off and add that to the bank?? the only problem with it is when i wrecked the car the battery exploded so the intake got acid all over it. it still works and sounds the same but since it's chrome it looks pretty beat up and that wil effect the price that i could get it for so what do you guys/gals think??

I ended up sawing my AEM v2 intake into pieces to relocate the air filter (which would have been right off the turbo) away from the engine. So you could do that.

As far as selling it, no one will want to pay a whole lot for a cosmetically damaged one, even if it works fine. True, performance probably isn't effected, but don't expect to get much for it if it looks bad. Maybe you're better off saving it and hack sawing it, heh.
