What are your tire preferences

Hi all,
I do not like the tires on my car. They are Michelin Energy MXV4 S8's and have 40k on them. They are a hard riding and noisy tire. Even tweaking the air pressure does little unless I set the fronts at 26psi.
I need an "all season" tire due to the heavy snow in northern NY.
I am hoping to pick up a set of steel wheels and put on a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks but that is hoping. Reality says for now get a good set of all season tires.
I am looking for a good rolling tire that is quiet and still responsive.
What are your suggestions?
Thanks for the input.

If I were you, I'd spend some time on tirerack. Find a few tires that you like and read the negative reviews about them. That should help you figure out what you need. I look more for handling on dry and wet road since there is only snow for about 10-15 days a year where I am.

I have done that.
Thanks for the tip.

So what did you like of their selection?

Tirerack's tire selection is good.
They offer a lot of selections and I especially like their check box method for what kind of tire you are looking for.
For my "wants" they offer Bridgestone Potenza, 3 models, Firestone Firehawk GT, Pirelli P6 and Goodyear Eagle GT-HR. Pricing ranged from $73 to $109 each.
One of my area shops quoted my the Firestone Firehawks for $108 including mounting and balance. Not a bad price.
It's interesting to read the reviews of these tires. Some love them others hate them, each giving good reasons. It is confusing.
