Hey guys,

I have a 2003 Accord EX with a 2.4l Engine and Automatic Transmission. I am having some trouble finding an intake that will work with my car. I need one that is CARB exempt.

I tried an AEM but when I talked to the guy he told me that I have some sensor on my car that will mess up the Automatic Shifting.

I am not sure if he is correct... it states on the Cold Air intake "Honda Accord 2003 4CYL Exc. all MAF Equipped Vehicles".

How do I find out if it is MAF equipped? What is an MAF?

I took some pictures of under the hood and what the guy told me might be the "MAF". I need someone elses opinion though, as the guy didnt really seem to know too much.

Please note these are both with the stock intake system.

The thing circled is the MAF. I would recommend the Fujita CAI mainly because its the only one that has the MAF slot. I have the Fujita CAI on my 05 Accord.

Hmm well I checked it out and it seems that they only have the MAF available for 04-present.

I am running an 03 so that wont work for my car. Do you know of a intake that would have an MAF for an 03? Perhaps I just wasnt looking in the right place.

I dont think that the intake is gonna work. I need one that is CARB exempt and I havent seen anything stating that it is. I live in CA so CARB exempt is a MUST. If it is CARB exempt the other thing is I also dont want to do any cutting to the body of the car just to get the intake in.

I am worried that perhaps the 04-present means that a model change happened between 03-04... will I be ok?

What does MAF mean by the way?

Mass Air Flow it's just a sensor... you can also get an AEM or off brand and cut a hole in it if you like then tape or glue the MAF in there and I've seen that done... if you do it right it will look like it was supposed to be that way and then you'll have a CARB Exempt intake...

Ha....no CARB in maryland (?)

Anyways, this is a good questions for I am thinking about CAI for my 03 Accord. So far one brand, Fujita has popped up. Anymore? K&N? etc?

EDIT- So what's the difference between a short ram intake and a CAI? Can someone tell me the good and the bad of each system?

If you can go for a CAI. Short rams... meh I really dont like them... You get more power from a CAI then from a short ram.

What kind of 03 Accord do you have?

My issue is I have a Mass Airflow Sensor. I believe the 4 door SULEV is the only 03 accord with it. Other then that it seems any airintake will work. I would go with AEM if I were you. I hear a lot of good reviews about them!
