My '88 idles fine when in neutral or park, but is rough when in gear. What RPM shoud it be? Can I adjust it? (carb, not FI) Thanks!

I've seen a lot of cars newer or older that shake some when in drive, pretty normal, especially on accords it seems. I imagine idle should be about 700-800 and adjustable, but I'm not sure how on that carbeurator.

first off make sure the motor mounts are ok,especially the rear a good way to test it visually of course ,if u see any crqcks or breaks replace it, ,,get a paper clip, raise car in the air will be easier,, start car put papar clip in the middle of rear mount, put car in gear if u cannot pull paper clip out the mount is collapsed replace it...,,,,,,,,if mounts are ok.. on the driver side of carburator there is a diaphram . it has 2 hoses going to it 1 is for idle under load ( headlites, car in gear ) the other hose is for when u put the a/c on, there should be vacc to the idle ulpload diaphram when car is in gear i believe it is hose # 21 but not 100% sure it has been a while since i worked on 1 of those ...,,idle should be around 750-800 but set it to 800 in gear ,it will minimize the shaking ......if no vacc to that hose, there is a valve that controls it in the emission box ..but let me know i will tell u how to cheat the system...
