Hello everyone. I have a 2002 Honda Accord Ex V6 silver. I noticed sinced i purchased the car about 2 years ago that when i hit bump, the car didnt seem to absorb the shock very well. Can I get some suggestions on what shocks to put or springs or w/e it would take for the car to have a smooth time hitting the bumps without me feeling like its going to crack in two pieces? Thank you.

Shocks - most like either KYB or Tokico shocks. There are a couple different options depending on what application (springs) they will be applied to.

Springs - there are many trusted brands, including Eibach, H&R, Neuspeed, and others.

You can do a mix and match between brands for shocks and springs, but just make sure the shock is made to handle whatever the spring setup is for, whether its a OE replacement or a lowering spring that will drop you a couple inches.  Sounds like you jsut what your cushy factory ride back. I would suggest some new Tokico HP shocks, and if you feel that it would help, some new springs like H&R's OE Springs.

let us know how it goes!

Yeah. I dont care too much for dropping my car as low to the ground as i can. I just want the smoothest ride allowed by a reasonable price. heheh.. doesnt everyone?! i will look into your suggestion GoldKnight. If anyone else has any suggestions they are definitely welcome! Thanks.

I would like to rephrase the goal of this thread. I want to know if there are shocks that will give me a smooth ride when it comes to hitting bumps. I have a 2002 Accord 2 door EX V6 with stock everything.

koni yellows hands down, downside, they are almost 600+ for both shocks and struts

^ haha I'm saving up right now as we speak for the koni's, I have groundcontrol sleeves and I want to go lower but going over uneven pavements are killing me, it's like a rolloer coaster.

no doubt. I can get them now, but that would put a huge dent in my bank account. Maybe in about a week.

haha I guess this thread is being hijacked. But I work at a family furniture store doing deliveries and sales. It's been slow lately so I dont want to spend anything as of yet because I need to pay some stuff off.

Yeah you two might wanna exchange email address.. . So back to the subject matter at hand, I dont think i want to throw down 600 on shocks. Around 200 works for me.

I have called a reseller for KYB shocks. He told me that if I want a smooth ride like a new car that I would want factory shocks. Any other brand is going to be stiffer but better handling. So now Im stuck. Will these after market shocks yield the same result that I have now?! Please let me know.

depending on how low you go, aftermarket shocks work better than stock stocks/struts.
I'd anything if you lower it about 1.75'' you can get away with stock shocks/struts, but be prepared for a bumpy ride.
Aftermarket shocks are designed for cars that are lowered, not stocks.

*edit*
before you buy the shocks, check if your shocks/struts are ok first. Because you dont want to buy something when it's not damaged.

if anything, i was gonna drop 2.0 front and 1.8 rear with a tanabe lowering kit, but i was just gonna put a set of tokico shocks with them, which all together are around $280 (for the shocks). that's the lowest price i found (for my car), but i think you will be hard pressed to find a set of shocks for a flat 200 dollars. the lowest price i found for your car was $334 for a set of tokico shocks >>here's a link for just the front shocks (priced individually): http://www.optionsauto.com/prodinfo.asp?number=T-HU3730, here's for the rear (also priced individually): http://www.optionsauto.com/prodinfo.asp?number=T-HU2934. but i do not like to use ebay, so maybe u could find a lower price on there. but that guy u called is right, if u do not have a lowering kit and just want shocks then u should get factory shocks (smoother ride), restating what stevent said: make sure to check if yours are damaged or not, cuz if they arent damaged then there is no point to getting new ones. if you have a lowering kit, then definately get aftermarket shocks because that is what they are made for (better handling and smoother ride w/ lowering springs). sorry to get off topic earlier :-( ... but i hope this helps! let us know what u decide!
